한국과 일본의 유치원교육과정 사회관계영역에서의 유아세계시민교육내용 비교연구 : 옥스팜 3-5세 세계시민교육과정지표를 중심으로 (A Comparative Study on the Contents of Early Childhood Global Citizenship Education in the Social Relationships between Korean and Japanese Kindergarten Curriculums : Focusing on the Oxfam 3-5 World C)

초록

본 연구는 한국과 일본의 유치원 교육과정에 나타난 유아세계시민교육 내용을 비교 분석하여 유치원 교육과정 개발을 위한 기초를 마련하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 연구 대상으로 한국의 유치원교육과정 영역중 ‘사회관계’와 이에 해당하는 일본의 ‘인간관계’ 영역을 선정하였다. 구체적인 분석에서는 옥스팜의 3-5세 세계시민교육과정지표(지식 및 이해, 기술적 능력, 가치 및 태도 총 21개 지표)를 사용하였다. 분석 결과 다음의 특징이 나타났다. 첫째, 한국과 일본에서 공통적으로 나타난 3-5세 세계시민교육과정지표는 ‘권력과 거버넌스’와 ‘협력과 갈등해결’지표였다. 둘째, 한국의 유치원교육과정 사회관계 영역에서 비교적 많이 나타난 지표는 ‘권력과 거버넌스’ (4개 조항)와 ‘환경에 대한 관심과 지속가능한 발전에 대한 헌신’(3개 조항)으로 나타났다. 일본은 ‘권력과 거버넌스’(4개 조항), ‘협력과 갈등해결’(3개 조항)지표가 비교적 많이 나타났다. 셋째, 지식 및 이해, 기술적 능력, 가치 및 태도 지표 분포를 비교한 결과, ‘지식 및 이해’지표는 양국이 비교적 균등하나 ‘기술적 능력’지표는 일본이 한국에 비해 높게 나타났다. ‘가치 및 태도’ 지표는 한국이 일본에 비해 높게 나타났다. 향후 유치원 교육과정을 개발하는 데 있어서 지식 및 이해, 기술적 능력, 가치 및 태도 지표에 대한 보다 심층적인 연구를 통해 유아의 세계시민교육을 강화해 나가는 것이 필요하다.

영어초록

This study attempted to investigate some implications on the direction of global citizenship education of the kindergarten curriculum in Korea by studying and comparing the contents of global citizenship education in the social relations area of ​​Korea's kindergarten curriculum (12 clauses) and Japan's human relations area (13 clauses). As an analysis index, Oxfam's 3 to 5-year-old index (21 indicators of knowledge and understanding, technical ability, value and attitude) which has been validated through previous studies was used. As a result, among the total 12 items in the social relations area of Korea, the four indicators of the global civic education course for 3 to 5-year-old children were about 'power and governance,' and three items were related to the issue 'interest in the environment and commitment to sustainable development. In Japan, four and three clauses were relevant in the ‘power and governance’ and ‘cooperation and conflict resolution’ indicators, respectively. The indicators of the 3 to 5-year-old children's global civic curriculum, which are common in the social relations and human relations between Korea and Japan, were 'power and governance' and 'cooperation and conflict resolution'-related indicators. When measuring the content percentage of the 3 to 5-year-old children's global civic curriculum index in the social relations and human relations areas of the Korean-Japanese kindergarten curriculum in terms of the three categories of Oxfam― 'knowledge and understanding,' 'technical ability,' and 'value and attitude'―Korea took up 41.6% in the index of 'knowledge and understanding' and 'value and attitude' respectively. Japan had 46.1% in ’technical ability’, 38.4% in ’knowledge and understanding,’ and 15.3% in ’value and attitude.’ These results implies the importance of global citizenship education for young children, the need of in-depth research on the contents, and the necessity of integrated approach to the whole area of the kindergarten curriculum.
