텍스트언어학적 비평과 처방을 통한 이공계 논문 바로 쓰기 (Text linguistics diagnosis and treatment of science and engineering papers)

초록

지금까지 이공계 논문의 서론부를 텍스트언어학적 관점에서 분석하고 그 문제점에대한 해결책을 찾아보았는데 이를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째,분석대상 논문의 서론부를 보그란데&드레슬러(1981)에 제시되어 있는7가지 텍스트성 판별 요소로 분석해 본 결과 전반적으로 문제가 있었고,특히 응집성(cohesion)의 경우에는 텍스트의 의미를 파악하기 힘들 정도로 잘못되어 있는 경우가많았다.
둘째,이공계 논문의 텍스트성을 높이기 위해서는 앞서 자세히 살펴본 오류들을 극복하고 그런 오류에 빠지지 않도록 하는 것이다.이를 위해서는 논문 작성자들이 한국어 문법의 원리를 알고 이를 바탕으로 적격한 글을 쓰되,텍스트언어학적 원리에입각하여 수준 높은 글을 쓰는 것이다.
이미 학업을 마친 이공계 전문 연구자들은 각 대학의 글쓰기센터나 학회에서 주최하는 글쓰기 세미나 등에 참여하여 텍스트성이 높은 글을 쓸 수 있는 능력을 길러야하며,학회 차원에서는 ‘논문 투고규정’을 강화하여 텍스트가 제대로 작성이 되지 않으면 안 되도록 할 필요가 있고,논문을 투고하기 전에 교정 전문기관에서 교정을 필수적으로 받아오게 하는 것도 한 방법이다.
셋째,이공계 분야 논문의 서론부에 들어가야 하는 내용,즉 연구의 목적과 필요성, 선행연구 검토,본 논문의 연구내용 항목,연구의 주제 등은 어느 정도 정해져 있기 때문에 서론부를 구성하는 내용과 방법을 메뉴얼로 만들어서 연구자들에게 보급하고교육하는 것도 좋은 방법이다.
넷째,학부과정에 있는 학생들에게는 입학시에 ‘글쓰기 능력 시험’을 실시한 후에일정한 성적 이하를 받은 학생들은 글쓰기 강좌를 의무적으로 수강하게 하는 것도 한방법이 될 수 있다.

영어초록

In this study, I analyzed the introductions of science and engineering articles from a text linguistics perspective and found solutions to the problem, summarized as follows.
First, we analyzed the introduction of the analysis target paper using the seven textuality discriminant elements defined by Beaugrande and Dressler (1981); cohesion, coherence, intentionality, acceptability, informativity, situationality, and intertextuality. We found that cohesion was often missing as it was difficult to understand the meaning of the text.
Second, the abovementioned seven elements determine how text is alike and enhances textuality. Therefore, we must overcome and avoid the errors we exam ined earlier to enhance the textuality of science and engineering papers. Authors are familiar with and use the Korean grammar principles to compose high-quality articles based on text linguistics principles.
Before authoring papers, researchers in science and engineering should attend writing seminars hosted by university writing centers or conferences to develop good writing skills. At the academic level, strengthening the “paper contribution regulation” is also necessary. Besides, it makes sure that correction is essential from a correctional institution before submitting a paper.
Third, the information to be included in the introduction of the science and engi neering articles, such as purpose and necessity of research, prior research review, and research topics, are predetermined to an extent. Thus, it would be a good idea to develop and distribute a guideline for introduction writing to educate researchers.
Fourth, undergraduate students below a particular grade may be required to take writing classes after taking the “writing proficiency test” at the time of admission.
Finally, the textuality of the paper needs to be analyzed and reviewed throughout the paper. However, among the articles studied, one paper was quite voluminous and varied in composition from chapter to chapter, making it laborious to deal with all at once. Later, we will observe the materials and methods, discussions, and conclusions of science and engineering papers from a text linguistics perspective and provide suggestions to enhance the textuality of the entire paper.
