산악관광 규제완화에 대한 지역주민과 관광객 태도 차이 (The Differences of Local Residents’ and Tourists’ Attitudes Toward Deregulation on Mountain Tourism)

초록

With a remarkable success of Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics, mountainous tourist destinations in Gangwon region have received a great deal of attention domestically and internationally. Jumping on the wagon, both national and provincial governments have announced the plans for the designation of special tourism zones and the activation of mountain tourism one after another. Even specific development plans have been brought up. However, not everyone welcomes this phenomenon. Some raise concerns that the extensive development plans may negatively affect the region as well as damage natural environment. Hence, this study attempts to examine the attitudes of the local residents and the tourists toward the development plans and the deregulation in the areas having hosted the Olympics. The results of this study as follows; First, the more positive effects of mountainous tourism they expect, the more positive attitude toward deregulation they have. Second, the local residents consider the economic effects more important whilst the tourists take environmental effects into consideration. Third, when it comes to the deregulation, ‘deregulation of tourism facilities,’ ‘private capital investment,’ and ‘tax exemptions’ show statistically significant differences between the two groups.
Unlike studies previously conducted in light of the attitude toward the tourismdevelopment, this study focuses on the deregulation and in turn, it widens the scope of research on the attitude toward tourismdevelopment. It is hoped that the outcome of this study will be a step toward a richer and more inclusive understanding of the expectations that different stakeholders have specifically about the development of mountainous tourist destinations.
