초록

본 연구의 목적은 사은(四恩)에 대한 기존 연구가 소태산 박중빈 대종사(少 太山 朴重彬 大宗師, 1891~1943)가 병든 세상의 치료를 목적으로 제창한 ‘인생의 요도’와 그것을 실현하기 위한 구체적인 실천 방법인 ‘교강(敎綱)’으로서의 사은 의 본래 취지에 부합하지 못한 채 훼절되어 왔음을 밝히고 사은의 원형을 복원하 는 데에 있다. 사은에 대한 연구는 교학 1세대인 한종만과 한기두에 의한 사은 담 론 형성을 기점으로 25년이 경과한 지금까지도 1세대의 문제의식과 해석 관점이 무비판적으로 답습되고 있다. 이는 불교를 비롯한 특정 종교와 철학 이론의 프레 임을 원불교 교의에 도식적으로 적용하여 해석해 온 결과로, 비교연구를 통한 원 불교학의 보편화라는 목적과 달리 역설적이게도 소태산 교조정신이 상실되는 현 상을 초래하였다. 유·불·선 전통 종교를 통한 교리 설명과 해석으로 인해 일원 상 진리를 기반으로 해서 타력과 자력, 신앙과 수행의 통일성에서 조명되어야 할 ‘인생의 요도’의 목적과 그 목적을 실현하기 위한 사은·사요, ‘공부의 요도’의 내 역이 되는 ‘삼강령’ 그리고 이를 적극적으로 실행하기 위한 ‘훈련의 조건’으로서 의 ‘팔조목’, ‘일기법’, ‘유무념 대조’ 간의 세분화된 구별과 연관성이 통일성과 체 계성을 상실한 채 파편화 및 추상화되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제의 식에 기반하여 시창14년도 「교무부 사업보고서」에 포함되어 있는 삼학·사은·사요 초안과 「대종경」 교의품 4장의 초안이 된 『회보』 46호, 이공주(九陀圓 李共 珠, 1896~1991), 김영신(融陀圓 金永信, 1908~1984) 등의 사은 관련 수필 법문 등 의 초기 자료를 고찰하여 교리의 통일성과 체계성, 일원과 사은의 관계, 사은의 도 (道)와 덕(德)의 의미, 체(體)와 용(用)의 관계를 밝혀내고자 하였다. 이러한 자료 들은 교학의 중요 개념을 소태산의 육성을 통해 체득할 수 있게 해 줄뿐만 아니라 기존의 교학 연구의 해석의 기반이 되었던 불교의 화엄학, 연기법 등의 특정 종교 나 철학적 교의와 개념의 틀을 통한 원불교 교의 해석의 한계를 드러내며, 현재 인 류의 생존 자체를 위협하고 있는 전지구적 문제인 기후위기와 환경파괴에 직면하 여 사은의 ‘없어서는 살 수 없는 관계’를 주목하여 ‘사은 윤리’를 현대 체계이론 등 과 비교하는 학제 간 연구의 타당성을 가늠할 수 있는 나침판을 제공할 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is the ‘the way of life’ proposed by So Tae-san Park Jung-bin Daejongsa (少太山 朴重彬 大宗師, 1891~1943) for the treatment of the sick world, and specific methods for realizing it. It aims to restore the original form of gratitude by revealing that it has been ‘destroyed’ without conforming to the original purpose of gratitude as a practice method ‘Gyo- Gang’(敎綱). The ‘Draft of The Threefold Study and The Fourfold Grace·The Four Essentials’ included in 「The Ministry of Education’s Business Report for the 14th year of the first year of the Won-Buddhist Era (1916 C.E.)」 and the essays on gratitude by Lee Gong-ju (九陀圓 李共珠, 1896~1991), Kim Young-shin (融陀圓 金永信, 1908~1984), etc. Through the cultivation of Sotaesan, it is not only possible to learn the relationship between Il-Won and Fourfold he Fourfold Grace, the meaning of the (道) and virtue(德) of Fourfold Grace and the relationship between the thing(體) and its functions(用), but also the mainstream interpretation of gratitude. A compass that can judge the rightness and wrongness of interdisciplinary comparative studies with studies that depend on specific religious or philosophical doctrines and conceptual frameworks, such as Buddhism’s chemistry, acting, and the principle of causality, and secular studies such as gratitude and ecology. provides If we take the study of Han Jong-man and Han Ki-doo, who are the first generation of -Buddhism, who prepared a forum for discussion on gratitude due to conflicting arguments in the discussion about the relationship between members and gratitude, as the starting point of the history of formation of the discourse on gratitude, 25 years have passed since then. Even the first generation’s problem awareness and interpretation point of view are being followed uncritically. As a result of schematically applying and interpreting the frames of specific religions and philosophical theories, including Buddhism, to Won-Buddhist doctrine, it paradoxically led to the fossilization of the dogmatic spirit of Sotaesan, contrary to the expectation of the universalization of - Buddhism. The purpose of the ‘the way of life’, which should be illuminated from the unity of self-control and self-control, faith and practice, based on the truth in unity, due to the explanation and interpretation of doctrine through The subdivided distinctions and associations between the three principles and the 'he Eight Articles', ‘The Dharma of Keeping a Diary, and ‘consistency of nothingness’ as ‘conditions of training’ to actively implement them are fragmented and abstracted. As the fossilization, fragmentation, and abstraction of the spirit of the doctrine that occurs without exception in the history of religion in the East and West, without exception, is a symptom that can occur around the 100-year history of - Buddhism, the effort to return to the spirit of Sotaesan is the current era faced by - Buddhism. It is a task and a request.
