유·초 연계 교육활동이 유아의 사회적 유능감과 자아탄력성에 미치는 영향 (The effects of kindergarten and elementary school continuity education activities on children’s social competence and resilience)

초록

본 연구는 유·초 연계 교육활동이 유아의 사회적 유능감과 자아탄력성에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것에 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서 개발한 교육활동은 유·초 연계와 초등학교 적응 관련 선행연구에서 제시한 학교생활 적응에 필요한 기술을 참고하여 기초학습, 학교생활적응, 기본생활습관, 또래관계를 교육내용으로 포함시켜 유·초 연계 교육활동을 20회기로 계획하였다. 연구대상은 충청북도 C시에 위치한 K어린이집 만 5세 유아 20명을 실험집단으로, T병설 유치원 만 5세 유아 20명을 비교집단으로 선정하였다. 실험집단의 경우 본 연구 교육활동을 진행하였고, 비교집단의 경우 누리과정 생활주제에 기초한 일상적인 활동만을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 유·초 연계교육을 실시한 실험집단 유아들은 비교집단 유아들보다 사회적 유능감과 사회적 유능감의 하위 영역인 정서조절, 정서성, 대인관계기술, 사회적 지식이해 부분에서 통계적으로 유의한 결과를 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 둘째, 자아탄력성 전체와 자아탄력성의 하위영역인 주도성과 애착부분에서 통계적으로 유의하게 높은 점수를 보였다. 즉, 유·초 연계 교육활동은 유아의 사회적 유능감과 자아탄력성 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있으며, 이러한 결과는 유아교육현장에서 다양한 유․초 연계 교육활동을 제공할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

영어초록

This study aims to examine the effects that educational activities continued from kindergarten to elementary school have on the social competence and ego resilience of young children. Following techniques needed for school adjustment suggested in previous studies on kindergarten and elementary school continuity and elementary school adjustment, this study developed 20 sessions of educational activities continued from kindergarten to elementary school. The contents of educational activities included basic learning, school life adjustment, basic living habits, and peer relationships. 20 five-year-old children who attended K Daycare Center located in C city of Chungcheongbuk-do Province were selected as an experimental group and 20 five-year-old children who attended T kindergarten located in the same city were selected as the control group. The educational activities were conducted with the experimental group, while only daily activities based on Nuri-curriculum life themes were conducted with the control group. Results showed that first, the experimental group had higher scores that were statistically significant than the control group in overall social competence and some subdomains of social competence, including emotional control, emotionality, interpersonal skills, and understanding of social knowledge. Second, the experimental group showed higher scores in overall resilience and the subdomains of resilience, such as initiative and attachment. These results indicate that educational activities continued from kindergarten to elementary school have a positive effect on the improvement of young children’s social competence and resilience and suggest that various educational activities continued from kindergarten to elementary school should be provided in early childhood educational practices.
