초록

Career development is one of the primary tasks for adolescents. It is very important not only for the future success, but also for the present happiness for them. However, not much research has been done on the relationship between career maturity and happiness of adolescents.
In this study, the effects of career maturity and self-concetp on happiness of 7-11th graders in a mid-size city of Korea. The results show that the level of career maturity and happiness of the subjects is about average, which is similar to the results done with a national level sample. The knowledge of career characteristics has direct effect on happiness of adolescents, whereas the independent attitude on career decision making, and the activity on career exploration and job experience have indirect effects on adolescents' happiness via self-concept.
Suggestions for improving career maturity and happiness of mid-size city adolescents are provided.
