고등학생의 완벽주의와 우유부단에 따른군집별 주관적 안녕감의 차이 (Clusters by Perfectionism, Indecisiveness and Their Difference in Subjective Well-being of High School Students)

초록

본 연구는 고등학생을 대상으로 완벽주의 하위요인과 우유부단의 수준에 따라 어떠한 군집이 형성되는가, 형성된 군집들 간 주관적 안녕감에 어떠한 차이가 있는가를 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 자료 수집을 위해 서울 및 경기도와 전라도에 거주하는 359명의 고등학생에게 설문조사를 실시하였으며, SPSS 19.0을 이용하여 각 변인들 간의 상관분석, 2단계 군집분석, 다변량분석 및 사후검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 완벽주의 하위요인과 우유부단 수준의 특성별로 4개의 군집이 나타났다. 군집 1은 개인기준, 사회기대 완벽주의가 높고 우유부단 수준이 낮아 “적응완벽 결정확신” 집단으로 명명되었다. 군집 2는 완벽주의 하위요인 모두가 낮고 우유부단 수준도 낮아 “비완벽 결정확신” 집단으로 명명되었다. 군집 3은 평가염려 완벽주의와 우유부단 수준이 높아 “부적응완벽 우유부단” 집단으로 명명되었다. 군집 4는 완벽주의 하위요인 모두와 우유부단 수준이 높아 “범완벽 우유부단” 집단으로 명명되었다. 각 집단은 주관적 안녕감에 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 긍정정서는 군집 1이 군집 2, 3보다 높았으며, 군집 4가 군집 3보다 높았고 부정정서는 군집 3, 4가 군집 1, 2보다 높았다. 생활만족에 있어서는 군집 2가 군집 3보다 높았다. 즉, 적응적 완벽주의 요소(개인적 기준)가 높고 우유부단이 낮은 집단이 부적응적 완벽주의(평가염려)가 높으며 우유부단이 높은 집단보다 전반적인 주관적 안녕감이 높았다. 본 연구는 하위요인별로 서로 다른 기능을 하는 완벽주의의 복잡한 특성을 고려하여 이와 공존하는 변인에 대한 탐색을 시도하였다는 점에서 의의를 지니며, 한국의 고등학생들에게 나타날 수 있는 완벽주의의 적응적 특성에 대한 이해를 더하는 데 기여하였다. 또한 본 연구에서 나타난 집단별 특성에 대한 정보를 토대로 상담의 개입 및 프로그램 개발에 기초자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to examine how different subjective well-being is among clusters formed depending on the levels of perfectionism and indecisiveness. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 359 high school students in Seoul, Gyeonggi province and Jeolla province. Correlation analysis, two-stage cluster analysis, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and a posteriori test were carried out. The results from a two-stare cluster analysis suggested the presence of four clusters. The first of these was Cluster 1, characterized by high scores for personal standards and social expectations and low scores on indecisiveness. It was termed the “Adaptive Perfectionism-Decisiveness group.” Second was Cluster 2, characterized by low scores for all perfectionism sub-factors and indecisiveness and termed the “Non-perfectionism-Decisiveness group.” Third was Cluster 3, characterized by high scores on evaluative concerns and indecisiveness and named the “Maladaptive Perfectionism-Indecisiveness group.” Finally, there was Cluster 4, characterized by high scores on all perfectionism sub-factors and indecisiveness and was named the “Perfectionism-Indecisiveness group.” Finally, the MANOVA result indicated that the four groups significantly differ in their scores across subjective well-being. The results from the posteriori test indicate that Cluster 1 is higher than Clusters 2 and 3 and that Cluster 4 is higher than Cluster 3 in terms of positive affect. Clusters 3 and 4 are higher than clusters 1 and 2 on negative affect. Cluster 2 is higher than Cluster 3 in terms of their satisfaction with life scores. Consequently, the groups which showed high adaptive perfectionism (personal standards) and low indecisiveness are higher than the groups which showed high maladaptive perfectionism (evaluative concern) and high indecisiveness on subjective well-being. This study provides several implications, as follows. First, the study attempted to explore variance coexisting with perfectionism in light of the complexity of perfectionism functions differently depending on sub-factors. Second, this study gives an explanation of perfectionism's positive aspects with regard to Korean high school students. Third, the study emphasizes indecisiveness, which is important factor in adolescence. Finally, on the basis of the characteristics of each group, this study will provide information on counseling strategies and intervention as well as on the development of the program.
