회계감리지적 공시의 정보비대칭과 소유주지분 효과 (The Effects of Information Asymmetry and Owners' Equity for the Enforcement of Surveillance)

초록

본 연구는 회계감리조치공시가 주식수익률 변동성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 정보비대칭의 관점에서 검증하고, 만일 정보비대칭이 존재하다면 기업의 소유구조에 따라 차이가 있는가를 공시일 전·후 분석한다. 검증결과, 회계감리지적 공시일 전·후 주식수익률 변동성이 공시일 이후에 유의하게 증가하고 있어서 회계감리지적 공시로 투자자와 경영자간의 정보비대칭이 완화되었다고 볼 수 있다.
또한 소유주지분 중에서 개인투자자지분율이 주식수익률 변동성과 유의한 양(+)의 관련성을 확인하였다. 그리고 개인투자자지분율이 높을수록 정보비대칭을 축소시켜 변동성을 확대시키고 있었다. 본 연구는 회계감리지적 공시라는 bad news가 정보비대칭성을 축소하여 변동성 확대에 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 실증분석함으로서 향후 투자자들이 이러한 정보를 적극 활용함으로써 효율적 투자를 할 수 있도록 유용한 정보를 제공하고 있다.

영어초록

This study investigates the effects of information asymmetry as a result of the disclosure of enforcement of surveillance by using the volatility of stock returns, that is, whether information asymmetries between managers and information users exist, or not. If they exist, this study analyzes a differences of information asymmetry among corporate ownership structures. The corporate ownership structures are used by measuring individual investors ratio, institutional investors ratio, and foreign investors ration.
Our results show strong support that there is positive and significant difference in the volatility of stock returns before and after the disclosure of enforcement of surveillance due to more positive increasement of volatility after the disclosure than before. Therefore, we conclude that the disclosure of enforcement of surveillance may greatly reduce information asymmetry between management and investors.
We also found that only individual investors ratio has a positive and significant relationship with volatility of stock returns, and the higher the individual investors ration, the lower information asymmetry occurs, due to the enlargement of volatility of stock returns. By better understanding the information asymmetry on the disclosure of enforcement of surveillance, investors evaluating firms' accounting information will be more prepared to anticipate more useful information making their effective investment.
