시조에 나타난 신화 소재의 수용 양상과 의미 - 중국 신화를 중심으로 (The features and meanings of the acceptance of mythological materials in Sijo - Focused on Chinese mythology)

초록

본고는 시조에 나타난 신화 소재를 작품 분석은 물론 유형과 수용 양상을 중심으로 살펴보고 의미를 밝혀 보았다. 이를 요약·정리 하면 다음과 같다.
먼저 시조에 나타난 신화 소재로 한 작품을 보면, 총 266수로 단시조가 196수, 장시조가 70수이다. 또한 작가는 60명에 136수이며 작자층은 왕에서부터 문무를 비롯하여 가객과 기생에 이르기까지 다양한 계층에서 다루어졌다. 또한 시조에 나타난 신화적 요소의 유형으로 신화적 인물로는 28명에 총 237회가 보이며 한편 신화적 공간으로는 34개의 공간에 153회가 나타나고 있다. 끝으로 신물적 요소는 총 15항목에 빈도수는 59회이다.
다음으로 시조에 나타난 신화 소재의 유형을 살펴보았다. 신화의 유형은 크게 ‘인물’과 ‘공간’, 그리고 ‘신물’로 나누었으며 이러한 유형을 통해 작자의 시상이 전개되고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
한편 시조에 나타난 신화 소재의 수용 양상을 살펴보았다. 먼저 신화시대의 통치에 대한 희구로는 성군과 태평성대, 그리고 왕도정치를 담고 있다. 다음으로 신화시대 삶의 동경으로는 장수와 충효, 그리고 隱者적 삶 등이다. 그리고 신화를 통한 경계는 과거 통치를 통한 경계와 변화는 세태에 대한 경계 등이다.
끝으로 시조에 수용된 신화 소재의 역할과 의미를 살펴보았는데 사대부의 주된 사상인 유교를 견고히 하고 있다는 점과 중국 신화를 시조에 적극적으로 수용하고 있다는 점, 그리고 소재의 다양성을 확보할 수 있었다는 점 등이다.
이처럼 시조에 나타난 신화 소재를 고사나 전고에서 미분하여 살펴 본 결과 그 나름의 역할과 의미를 갖고 있다.

영어초록

We have examined and interpreted meanings of myth in Sijo focused on the structure and expressive features as well as analyzing the texts until now. A summary and a broad outline of this is as follows:First, for works using mythological materials in Sijo, they are total 266 pieces and the number of short Sijo accounts for 196 pieces, and that of long Sijos reaches 70 pieces. Besides, authors are 60 people and their works are 136 pieces and the base of the authors was in diverse classes ranging from kings and military and civilian officials to poets and Gisaeng. In addition, for types of mythological elements shown in Sijo, mythical characters are total 237 by 28 authors while for mythical spaces are 34 and they appear 153 times. And finally, for mythical elements are total 15 items and the frequency is 59 times.
Second, we examined types of mythological materials show in Sijo. The types of the myth were largely divided into ‘character’, ‘space’, and ‘mythical things’ which indicates that through these types, the authors' poetic sentiment is expressed.
Third, we examined the features of the acceptance of mythological materials shown in Sijo. Above all, they contain the good and wise king, a reign of peace, and moral politics for desires of the reign etc. in the mythological age. And next, there are longevity, filial piety, and hermitic life etc. as longing for life of the mythological age. And warnings through myths include a warning through the past reign and a warning against changing social conditions etc.
Finally, we investigated the role and meanings of the mythological materials accepted in Sijo, which indicates that they solidify Confucianism which is the main thought of Sadaebu, that Chinese myths are actively employed in Sijo, and that a diversity of materials were secured etc.
As mentioned above, as a result of examining mythological materials shown in Sijo partially differentiating them in ancient events or previous examples, it has been observed that they have their own role and meanings.
