원예활동이 초등학생의 사회성 및 교우관계에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Horticultural Activity on the Sociality and Friend Relation of Elementary School Students)

초록

초등학생은 부모의 과잉보호나 지나친 경쟁 위주의 생활로 인하여 타인 보다는 개인 위주의 생활에 익숙해져 있거나, 경제적 어려움으로 부모의 보호와 관심이 저조하고, 자신에 대한 확신이 부족하여 학교생활 적응력이 떨어지거나 원만한 교우관계 형성에 어려움이 따를 수 있다. 따라서 원예활동이 초등학생의 사회성과 교우관계에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 조사하고자 이 연구를 실시하였으며, 그 결과는 아래와 같다.
원예활동 프로그램을 실시한 실험집단은 통제집단에 비하여 사회성 하위요인인 책임성, 자율성, 성취성, 우월성, 활동성, 안정성, 지배성, 사교성, 정서성, 준법성, 협동성이 발달되는 것으로 나타났으며 통계적으로도 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 그리고 실험집단내의 사회성 변화도 사전검사에 비하여 사후검사시 책임성, 자율성, 성취성, 우월성, 활동성, 안정성, 지배성, 사교성, 정서성, 준법성, 협동성이 발달되었으며 통계적으로도 유의미한 차이를 나타내었다.
원예활동 프로그램을 실시한 실험집단은 통제집단에 비하여 교우관계 하위요인인 친구의 유무와 신뢰도, 교제의 지속성, 친구간의 적응, 친구와의 공동생활이 향상되는 것으로 나타났으며 통계적으로도 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 그리고 실험집단내의 교우관계 변화도 사전검사에 비하여 사후검사시 친구의 유무와 신뢰도, 교제의 지속성, 친구간의 적응, 친구와의 공동생활이 향상되었으며 통계적으로도 유의미한 차이를 나타내었다.
이와 같이 원예활동이 초등학생의 사회성 및 교우관계에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 학교 현장에서 다양한 원예활동 프로그램을 개발하여 주기적으로 시행한다면 학생들은 사회생활의 기초가 될 수 있는 덕목을 자연스럽게 습득하게 되고, 친구들과의 공감대 형성 및 공동체 의식함양에 많은 도움이 될 것으로 생각되었다.

영어초록

Elementary school students are accustomed to individualistic life because of their parents’ excessive protection and their lifestyles oriented to immoderate competition, or do not receive enough care and concern from their parents due to financial difficulties, and do not adjust well to their school life or find difficulty in having smooth friend relations because they do not have sufficient confidence in themselves. Therefore, this study was performed to examine the effects of the horticultural activity on the sociality development and friend relation enhancement of elementary school students in urban areas. And, its results are as follows.
The experimental group that received the horticultural activity program, compared to control group, showed development in sociality sub-factors such as responsibility, independence, accomplishment, superiority, activity, stability, dominance, sociality, emotionality, law-abiding spirit, and cooperativity, and this difference was statistically significant. Change in sociality in the case of the experimental group when post-test results were compared to pre-test results was significantly higher when it comes to responsibility, independence, accomplishment, superiority, activity, stability, dominance, sociality, emotionality, law-abiding spirit, and cooperativity.
The experimental group that received the horticultural activity program, compared to control group, showed enhancement in friend relation sub-factors such as the existence of friends, credibility between friends, sustainability of the friendship, adjustment between friends, and community life with friends, and this difference was statistically significant. Change in friend relation in the case of the experimental group when post-test results were compared to pre-test results was significantly higher when it comes to existence of friends, credibility between friends, sustainability of the friendship, adjustment between friends, and community life with friends.
According to the data of this study, it was demonstrated that the horticultural activity had a positive effects on the sociality and friend relation of elementary school students. Therefore, the researchers of the present study thought that developing various horticultural programs and performing them periodically on the school scenes would make a huge contribution to helping students naturally cultivate virtues that could be the foundation of their social life, sympathize with their friends and foster the community spirit.
