초록

본 연구는 보건복지부와 지역아동센터중앙지원단의 연구위탁을 받은 한국청소년정책연구원에
서 지역아동센터를 이용하는 초등학생을 대상으로 2011년~2014년에 실시한 아동패널연구자
료 중 2013년 초등6학년의 자료를 바탕으로 진행되었다. 본 연구에서는 통제변인으로 초등학
생의 성별, 가정경제수준, 부모 학력, 부모 직업유무를, 개인변인으로 상위인지도, 문제해결능
력, 주의집중력, 스트레스를, 가족변인으로 부모의 감독(관심), 방임, 학대, 부모-자녀 대화, 부
모-자녀 동반활동을 설정하고, 지역아동센터를 이용하는 학생들의 학업성취에 미치는 요인들
을 살펴보았다. 기존연구는 빈곤아동을 포함하여 전체 아동을 대상으로 학업성취에 영향을 미
치는 요인을 살펴본 반면, 본 연구는 지역아동센터를 이용하는 초등학생만을 대상으로 학업성
취에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 빈곤 아동을 대상으로 하는 지역아동센터
를 이용하는 초등학생의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 모(母)의 학력, 상위인지도, 문제
해결능력이 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 지역아동센터를 이용하는 초등
학생의 학업성취 향상을 위한 정책적 제언과 실천적 함의를 논하였다.

영어초록

This study intended to understand the factors that affect on the academic achievement of elementary school students
who have attended the community child centers using the materials of 6thgradein 2013, whichis from the Panel Survey
on the Children Who Attend Community Child Centers that the National Youth Policy Institute was commissioned to
conduct by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Headquarters for Community Child Center between 2011 and
2014. For this study, control, individual, and family variables were set up; gender of students, levels of household
economy, educational background of parents, and whether or not parents have jobs as control variables; the top of
mind awareness, problem-solving ability, attention and concentration, and stress as individual variables; and
attention(affection) of parents, neglect, abuse, the communication between parents and child(ren), and parent-child
activity as family variables. This study looked into the factors that affect on the academic achievement of elementary
school students who attend the community child centers, which is differentiated from the existing studies that had
been conducted for entire children including children in poverty. In results, it was found that only the three factors:
the educational background of mother, top of mind awareness, and problem-solving ability significantly affected on the
underachievement of elementary school students who attend the community child centers generally for children in
poverty, and the effects of those three factors were negative. These results are different from the existing studies that
have suggested that poverty affects the level of academic achievement, which may be the significant implication in the
aspect of policy. The findings of this study that the educational background of mother, top of mind awareness, and
problem-solving ability affect on the academic achievement of children who attend community child centers, should be
considered significantly for solving their underachievement. Based on the aforementioned results, the approach of policies
should be prepared and the direct interventions made to solve the underachievement of elementary school students who
attend community child centers.
