초록

초등학교 ‘국어’ 교과서에 제시되어 있는 ‘쉼터’는 국어 교육의 창의적 표현과 밀접한 관련을 맺고 있는 활동이다. 초등학교 ‘국어’ 교과서에서 ‘쉼터’난을 설정한 의도는 국어 문화에 대한 자긍심 고양, 국어 사랑의 의식과 태도 고취, 창조적 국어 생활에 대한 인식 확대, 국어의 발전을 위한 태도 고양 등이다.
국어 교과서에서 ‘쉼터’는 매우 독특한 성격을 가지고 있는 것이 사실이다. 그러므로 ‘쉼터’를 본 차시에 도입하여 학습자에게 또 다른 부담을 주는 것은 곤란하지만 국어 사용 능력을 신장하기 위한 효과적인 제재로 활용한다면, 교과서의 내용을 충분히 활용한다는 면에서도 학습자의 능력을 향상시킨다는 면에서도 충분히 의미가 있을 것이다. 또한 국어 교과의 영원한 목표 중에 하나라고 할 수 있는 창조적 언어 사용 능력의 신장을 위해 기여하는 바도 클 것이다. 그리고 학습자의 상위인지 능력을 신장시킴으로써 학습자 스스로의 자기 주도적 학습이 이루어질 수 있는 바탕을 마련할 수 있을 것이다.
본 연구는 이러한 부분에 유의하면서 초등학교 국어 교과서 ‘쉼터’의 유형을 분석하고 그 활용 방안을 타진해 보았다. 앞으로 이에 대해 더욱 지속적인 연구가 이루어져야 하리라고 본다.

영어초록

The Swimter (Swimter means 쉼터) is an activity having a close relationship with the creative expression in the Korean language education. The purpose to make a section of the Swimter in the Korean language textbook for the elementary school is to do the following things : enhancement of the pride for the culture of the Korean Language, inspiration on consciousness and an attitude of love for the Korean Language, enlargement of the recognition for the original Korean languages living, and enhancement of an attitude for the development of the Korean Language.
Evaluation for the Swimter in the Korean Language textbook appears to be very positive. However, regardless of such a positive evaluation, real discussion of the Swimter has never been made.
The Swimter founded in the Korean Language textbook of elementary school is a total of 147. Some Swimter is related with a studying goal of a unit, but some Swimter is not related with a studying goal of a unit. The nature of the Swimter becomes different according to the characteristics of the textbook of Speaking & Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening & Writing.
It is true that the Swimter in the Korean language textbook has very distinctive characteristic. Therefore, its not good to impose a heavy burden on the learner by introducing the Swimter at this time, but the Swimter is very useful on the aspects of both the good use of textbook and improvement of the learners ability if it is used effectively as the subject matter to increase the learners ability on the use of the Korean language.
The Swimter can be categorized as followings.
․Practical use as a material to strength recognition of the Korean language
․Practical use as a material of language etiquette
․Practical use as a material to learn the Korean language
․Practical use as a material to learn tradition
․Practical use as a material of creative change of the Korean languages use
․Practical use as a material for the play of the Korean language
․Practical use as a material for stimulate interest
․Practical use as a material for education of the unity
․Practical use as a material for education of unification of the subject
The possibilities of the several practical use of the Swimter have been tapped.
However, these things are not independent completely. That is, these things are only categorized giving priority on the important natures and not mean that these things can only be user as the materials of education as mentioned above.
What the analysis of the Swimter suggests is as follows.
First, prepare the contents of systematic and planned education.
Second, overcome the fixed format of the Swimter itself.
Third, consider the appearing position of the Swimter. The Swimter can be published as both a book form and a supplement.
By making the best use of the good points the Swimter has and suggesting the interesting the study material to the learners, the Swimter can be used efficiently as a subject matter of an activity to extend the ability of the creative use of a language which is the goal of the Korean language textbook. The Swimter also can be the background for self-instructive activity of learners by increasing the learners meta-cognition ability. To accomplish these goals, continuous concern is necessary.
