초록

외래어는 국어 어휘 중에서 외국어에 기원을 둔 말이다. 외래어의 생태를 파악하기 위해 초등 학교 국어 교과서, 방송, 신문을 살펴보았다.
7차 국어 교과서에 나타난 외래어는 6차 교과서에 비해 많이 늘어났다. 총 개별어휘수만 해도 124개 증가하였고, 연어휘수는 1,016개가 늘어났다. 특히 연어휘수는 2배 가까운 증가를 보여 외래어가 급속하게 늘어나고 있음을 알 수 있다. ‘컴퓨터’는 6, 7차에 걸쳐 나타나며 7차의 경우 전학기에서 골고루 수록되어 고빈도이면서 가장 광범위한 출현을 보이는 외래어였다.
KBS1을 비롯한 여섯 개의 방송국에 나타난 프로그램을 대상으로 일주일 동안 텔레비전 프로그램 제목을 살펴보았다. 외래어만으로 되어 있거나 외래어가 포함된 제목의 비율은 60.87%로 매우 높았다. 외래어 실태를 파악하기 위해 주요 방송사의 프로그램을분석하였다. 여기서찾은외래어중총개별어휘수는594개, 연어휘수는 1,628개며 평균 빈도는 2.74다. 이 중 외래어를 가장 많이 사용하는
방송 부문은 교양으로 연어휘수 678개였고 빈도율이 높은 부문은 오락으로 평균빈도 2.87이었다. 외래어 사용의 문제점으로는 발음, 표기 현상에서 살펴볼 수 있었다.
우리 나라 주요 일간지 4개에 나타난 외래어를 약 10일간 조사한 결과 우선 나눔 신문 제목부터 우리말을 두고 영어로 쓴 것이 많았다. 기사제목에서 지나치게 영어 철자를 사용하였거나 좋은 우리말을 두고 함부로 쓴 외래어가 많이 발견되었다. 상대적으로 고유어로만 된 기사 제목은 매우 적었다. 특히 조선일보의 경우 137개 제목이 외래어로 표기되었으나 고유어 제목은 11개에 불과했다. 이에 비해 한겨레신문은 59개의 외래어 제목에 21개의 고유어 제목이 나타나 상대적으로 외래어를 덜 쓰는 신문으로 나타났다.
외래어의 오․남용을 막기 위해서는 학생들에게 국어의 중요성을 가르쳐야 한다. 또 국어를 순화시키려는 국민들의 각성과 의지가 중요하다.

영어초록

Loanword is the language which is derived from foreign language in Korean. In order to recognize ecology of loanword, I investigated the elementary Korean textbooks, broadcastings and newspapers and concluded as follows.
Loanword has been appeared more in the Korean textbook of the 7th curriculum than in the 6th. Individual vocabulary of loanword increased by 124 and total vocabulary of it increased by 1016. For especially total vocabulary was nearly doubled, I could know loanword has been increasing fast. Bus, energy, computer, television and cosmos in order were in high frequency of common noun in the 6th textbook. They were more often used in various field of many class
textbooks than the proper noun. Computer, internet, marathon, robot and kilometer in order were in high frequency of common noun in the textbook of the 7th curriculum. Especially the term of computer has been emerged in the 6th and the 7th curriculum and evenly found in
all semesters therefore I could know it seems to be the most used word.
I investigated 6 broadcasting stations contained KBS1, MBC, EBS and so on. First, I researched the title names of the TV program for a week. With only loan words are becoming, the ratio of the subjects where the loan words are contained is high very with 60.87%. And
then in order to know the actual use condition of the loan words I analyzed the programs of the major TV broadcasting stations in Korea. I classified it into three parts: news, entertainment, culture section and researched the contents for 600minutes. Fromhere the number of loanwords surveyed is 594 individual vocabularies, 1628 total vocabularies and the average frequency is 2.74. In the culture section the loanwords used themost plentifully as 678 vocabularies andthe entertainment section is high using frequency 2.87 ‘Percentage (퍼센트)’ is themost frequency word and the next is orderly ‘cheer up(파이팅)’, ‘club(클럽)’, ‘team(팀)’ and ‘clubday(클럽데이)’. Inpronunciation, there aremany errors: glottalized sounds e.g. [게임/*
께임], addition ‘ㄹ’ e.g. roomsalon [룸살롱/*룸싸롱], deletion or the addition ‘ㅡ' e.g. scout [스카우트/*스카웃], doughnut [도넛/*도너츠],mistake [f] sound e.g. fighting [파이팅/*화이팅], replacement ‘ㅓ/ㅏ' e.g. data [데이터/*데이타]. In the orthography, there are alsomany errors: a final consonant e.g. coffee shop [커피숍/*커피숖], an aspirate into glottalized sounds e.g. [카페/*까페], spelling English e.g.MC, spacing words e.g.music video[뮤직비디오/*뮤직비디오]‘.We also point out an abuse of lown words.
I also investigated loan words on 4 main daily newspapers for 10 days. First, the title names of section newspaper were mostly marked in english instead of Korean like 'money', 'today', 'nationwide' and relatively a only native language name was rarely used. Especially in Chosunilbo, native language title names were only 11 in comparison with 137 loanword names. In the case of Hangure Newspaper, native language title names were 21 in comparison with 59 loanword names and the paper relatively used a few loan word.
