초록

최근 디지털 스토리텔링에 대한 관심이 급속히 높아지고 있다. 우리는 예전보다 훨씬 많은 이야기를 하루에도 듣고, 말하고, 보고 있다. 그러나 스토리텔링의 개발은 이러한 수요를 따라가지 못하고 있다. 이에 세계적으로 디지털스토리텔링을 위한 저작도구 기술에 대한 연구와 개발이 활발하게 진행되고 있다.
현재 미국은 거의 모든 콘텐츠 제작사들이 디지털화된 시나리오를 사용한다. <드라마티카 프로(Dramatica Pro)>를 비롯하여 <파이널 드래프트(Final Draft)>, <파워 스트럭쳐(Power Structure)>등 수십 종의 전문화된 스토리텔링 소프트웨어들로 표준화되고 전산화된 시나리오를 창작하고 있다. 이러한 소프트웨어들은 스토리형성(Story Forming) 기능에 의해 작가가 자유분방하게 입력한 텍스트를 완결된 형식의 시나리오로 양식화해줄 뿐만 아니라 스토리 가이드(Story Guide) 기능에 의해 캐릭터 묘사, 주제와 모티프, 플롯화의 방법, 감정선의 변화 등등 스토리의 완성에 필요한 중요한 지침들을 실시간으로 즉시 작가에게 제공하고 있다. 이러한 스토리 가이드 기능은 일정한 서사 알고리즘에 의해 나타나는바 아마추어 작가들에게는 수준 높은 콘텐츠 제작에 도전할 수 있는 가능성을 열어주고 전문 작가에는 스토리를 비교 검토하고 교정하는 작업을 도와주고 있다.

영어초록

Interests in digital storytelling have been dramatically increased these days. We hear, talk about, and see much more stories in a day than ever before. However, development of storytelling is not catching up with this speed of the trend. Accordingly, there has been active research and development of writing techniques for storytelling such as <Dramatica Pro>, <Final Draft>, and <Power Structure> all over the world. Despite this flow, although Korea is the ninth greatest culture contents producer (in the record of December, 2006), we continue on paper scenario works that consume a huge amount of time and efforts. Moreover, research for developing digital writing equipment is insufficient.
Recognizing this kind of critical mind, this study made an attempt to plan a support system for writers, which is limited for 'mystery drama series', as a preceding step for developing a Korean digital auhthoring tool. The genre of mystery descriptions has strict rules and standards, so it provides great convenience in making digital writing equipment that is programmed by computers. Moreover, description structures of a mystery story have been variously changed over genres lately. Therefore, research for mystery drama authoring tool has a meaningful implication that it provides the development direction for writing equipment of digital descriptions including a number of other genres from now on.
First of all, to plan the system this paper analyzed the structure of mystery descriptions. The types of mystery descriptions can be divided as 'mystery', 'crime', or 'suspense' according to what is decided to be the center among three important elements of a mystery stories, which are a detective, a criminal, and a victim. Applying this kind of standard to existing works, this research tried to analyze the close description structures of mystery drama series. The object of the research is a recrudescence drama series of criminal investigation of MBC-TV, "Detectives"(broadcasted from 2005 to 2007) that this researcher participated in person. This program inductively deducted every method of developing descriptions and components with about 60 times of analyzing scripts. Moreover, this researcher planned a system to support writers for creating mystery drama series depending on the result of analyzing the structures of mystery descriptions.
According to this system, writers can complete a mystery description that has a appropriate plot with only filling up blanks following the order of programs, and they can freely change the organization through visualized elaboration courses. The system seems to be profitable in being actually applied in that it is based on the real creation scripts. However, this system cannot put together the whole descriptions for it is limited to a specific genre, a mystery series. In addition, it has another limitation that there is lack of support for organizing characters. These limitations should be complemented through following research.
