본문내용

사람이 있는 곳이라면 빠짐없이 등장하는 것이 있는데, 그 중에 하나는 숫자이다. 숫자는 여러 영역에서 사용되고, 전 세계적으로 통용된다. 그 숫자는 오랜 세월에 걸쳐 사용되어 왔다. 그리고 우리가 보는 성경에도 다양한숫자의 사용이 등장한다. 그런데 숫자의 사용이 의미하는 바가 있다는 다양한 시도가 있었다. 널리 퍼져 있는 이야기처럼(3또는 7은 완벽한 수) 하나의 수가 어떤 의미를 연상하게 하는 것도 있지만, 숫자를 가지고 일정한 양식이 있다는 것 또한 발견된다. 그리고 그 양식이 어떤 역할을 하는지에 대해서도 많은 연구가 있었다. 수를 이용한 양식의 대표적인 예가 “수잠언(Zahlenspruch)”이다.

수잠언은 무엇이라고 정의를 내릴 수 있을까? 수를 이용해 일정한 양식을 사용한다고 해서 수잠언의 범위에 모두 들어갈 수 있을까? 수잠언에 대한 정확한 정의가 필요하다. 또한 수잠언이라고 정의 내릴 수 있는 본문들은 항상 같은 형식을 취하는가? 그렇지 않은가? 혹시 수잠언의 범주에서 몇 가지의 형식으로 나눌 수 있다고 한다면 어떤 형식으로 나눌 수 있을까? 또한 수잠언의 형식을 가장 많이 볼 수 있는 구약 성경은 지혜 문학이다. 지혜문학의 범주에서 수잠언이라는 양식을 사용한 이유는 무엇일까? 알아듣기 어려운 말이라, 지혜자들이나 학습을 하였던 자들만 이해할 수 있었던 것일까? 아니면 전통적으로 사람이 있는 곳이라면 누구나 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 쓰이던 양식일까? 지식이 있던 사람들이든, 그렇지 않은 사람들이든 굳이 수잠언의 양식을 이용해 본문에 대한 이해를 설명을 하고자 했던 저자의 의도를 알아야 할 필요가 있다. 그런데 수잠언의 양식이 아모스에서도 발견이 된다. 아모스는 수잠언의 양식을 어떻게 알고 사용하였을까?
