◈ 2008학년도 영어로 진행하는 영어수업 ◈[ Overall Procedure of the Lesson ]
I. OPENING(10`)
1. Ice-breaking: greet students and check the attendance, trying to smoothen
the atmosphere with small talk.
2. Stating Specific Objectives: announce the specific objectives and the general
outline of the lesson.
1) Raise cultural awareness of western table manners
2) Practice speaking skills
3) Practice listening skills
3. Review Words : have the students spell the words on the worksheets.
II. DEVELOPMENT(32`)
1. Watching for Gist: Ask a couple of comprehension questions after watching
the video clip (from Mr. Bean).
2. Cultural understanding: Have students be aware of the western table
manners in a restaurant by showing PPT about
manner tips.
3. Listening activity: Have students work on listening sheets.
4. Pair work: 1) Match the sentence strips / 2) Dice game
5. Group work (role play) - a skit:
1) Have students work in groups of six or seven and prepare for a skit.
Give students a task which asks them to guess the ending of the scene.
Students are encouraged to be as much creative with the scene.
After completing the skit, students are required to perform the skit in front
of the class.
2) Encourage students to use as much English while working in groups.
3) Ask students to evaluate each group`s performance while the other groups are
presenting their skit.
III. RECAPITULATION (8`)
1. Further study: Jeopardy (table manner quiz)
- Have students guess the right answers for each quiz based on what they learned.
The team which gets the highest score will be the winner and be rewarded after
class.
