Clean water is most important to controlling the transmission of waterborne diseases, since the main cause of waterborne disease outbreaks is contaminated water. Water is usually contaminated by waste or poor sanitary conditions. Contaminated water delivers pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, protozoans, or worms to people (1). As a result, pathogens infect people through drinking water, food exposed to infected water, and recreational water activities such as bathing, washing, and swimming (1).
