1. 서론
- 사이버대학은 오프라인 대학에 비해 학습몰입도나 학습만족도가 현저히 낮으며 중도 포기율 또한 높아 제대로 된 교육효과를 기대하기가 어렵다는 것이다(주영주 외, 2008).
- 사이버대학과 같은 e-러닝 환경에서의 학습효과에 관한 연구들 역시 온라인 교육이 오프라인 교육에 비해 교육효과가 떨어진다는 데에 대부분 동의하고 있는데, 선행연구들은 이러한 문제의 근본원인으로 학습자와 시스템 간의 상호작용(interaction)이 원활하지 못하다는 점을 들고 있다(권대봉 외, 2008; 임병노와 이준, 2007; 허균과 나일주, 2005).
- 그간의 연구들은 학습자를 주제, e-러닝 시스템을 객체로 보고, 어떻게 하면 학습주체와 객체 산의 상호작용성이 높은 시스템을 구현할 수 있을지에 초점을 맞추는 경우가 대부분이었다(정기호와 손종호, 2001).
- e-러닝 환경에서의 상호작용은 학습자와 시스템 간의 상호작용 이외에도 학습주체간의 상호작용 즉, 학습자와 교수자간 상호작용, 학습자와 운영자간 상호작용 등 다양한 상호작용 환경들로도 구별될 수 있기 때문이다.
- e-러닝 상호작용 환경을 살펴봄에 있어서 학습주체와 객체 간의 상호작용만으로 교육의 효과를 논의하기 보다는 지식전달에 영향을 미치는 전반적인 상호작용 환경을 보다 세분화하여 살펴볼 필요성이 있다고 하겠다.

2. e-러닝 환경에서의 상호작용(interaction)과 지식전달(knowledge transfer)
- e-러닝은 일반적으로 온라인 기술기반 교육을 뜻하는 것으로(technology-based education), 학습을 위한 자유로운 정보검색, 정보저장 및 지식전달(knowledge transfer)이 가능한 환경이어야 한다(Schank, 2000; 강인원 외, 2008).
- e-러닝은 인간과 컴퓨터 간의 다양한 상호작용(interaction)을 제공해 주어야 한다(Piccoli et al., 2001).
