소개

In the 21st century, many things have changed since 20th century. Whereas the 20th century was the start of the Digital Revolution, it continued into the early 21th century. Massively growing number of people started to use mobile and have access to internet. And the popularity of the internet and World Wide Web have been rising largely. And also, the previous popular networking service, such as email, message, instant message etc, started to be replaced by SNS, such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc. Even the person sitting next to you in the subway is using their mobile, perhaps doing Facebook. The technologies are not the only thing that are changing. Everyday lives are changing by the technology and social media. For example, many students share their project material through Kakao talk, people are gathering through Facebook by making online group, some people learn new skills through YouTube etc. Strikingly, it is also changing the culture in politics.

1. Method
This study is based on data from USA citizen age 19 to 88 years old. Of the 222 respondents, 85.6% of data were available for the study.
The survey utilizes a 7 Likert type scale, and the operationalization of the survey for the dependent variable (“Compared to traditional Internet use (mail and web browsing), my use of social media (Facebook, Google+, etc) has helped me become more involved in local issues that interest me.”: 7= Strongly Agree, 6= Agree, 5= Somewhat Agree, 4=Neural/No Opinion, 3= Somewhat Disagree, 2= Disagree, 1= Strongly Disagree.
For the independent variable, the data of “Generally speaking, I am outgoing and sociable” were measured by 7 Likert type scale, same as the dependent variable. And other general questions for demographic information.

Hypotheses
To examine the effects of individual factors on the contribution of SNS to involvement in the local issue, the multiple regression has been conducted. The following hypotheses were formulated for the multiple regression.
