I. Introduction of the project
In the accounting class this semester, we learned how management effectiveness and customer satisfaction measurement is recorded through 10-k. Our team, team number 6, chose two publicly traded companies in the cruise industry for the final project. Although there are other various industries included in the hospitality industry, we specifically chose the cruise industry because none of the other groups have chosen this industry. We also knew that the cruise industry these days especially is experiencing increase in popularity. Because we hardly learn about the cruise industry in depth in any other classes, we thought that by doing this project we could learn a lot about this industry which we do not have much knowledge of.
The two cruise ship companies we chose are Carnival Corporation & plc and Royal Caribbean Ltd. These two companies are the most famous cruise companies in the whole world. They are the biggest competitors of each other, and are the leaders of the cruise industry. Both of these companies own a number of cruise line brands.
