Introduction
With countless changes and modern patterns, Buddhism was subject to tremendous revision and reinterpretation. It is attributed to substantial changes in economic, political, and social environment and it changed the way of achieving goal with such demanding changes. The idea of modernity came up with the importance of European Enlightenment values of progress and rationality with belief that science and technology other than religious factors can also contribute to the development of human knowledge and power. Such idea made Buddhism to interact with modernity and there are two kinds of Buddhism which adopted modernity with them: (1) Humanistic Buddhism; (2) Engaged Buddhism. Despite the fact that their concept of interaction with modernity is the same they have slight difference in terms of core value they pursue. This paper would elaborate about the background and main features of Humanistic Buddhism and Engagedact in Taiwan and the rest of the world.

They ultimately participate in social, political, and economical aspects of life to improve society having magnificant contribution to the cilvilization of Taiwan
