Assisted suicide, which is called euthanasia in different word, is one of the most controversial issues in the United States today. Supporters and opponents of assisted suicide keep arguing about legalizing assisted suicide. However, it is very clear that assistant suicide should not be permitted for many reasons. Assisted suicide will create a lot of social problems, such as result of destroying dignity of life, misusing assisted suicide, and abusing.
Firstly, if assisted suicide is practiced, human being’s dignity will no longer exist. Doctors and families of patient will give up medical treatment so easily without consideration to resuscitate the patients. Human nature cannot decide when their lives are done. That is territory of god. It is possible to think that it is easy to die someone for children who are unconscious. Moreover, the physician assisted suicide is definitely not ethical. Charles J. Chanput, a member of the Order of Friars minor, Chapuchins, pointed out that assisted suicide is not out of compassion and that is severely distort the meaning of mercy. He insisted that “a merciful society does not kill the terminally ill, but instead seeks to ease their suffering and bring meaning to their lives” (Chaput 40). I totally agree with him because
