For the past decades, Chinese economy grew at a fast rate. According to International Trade Statistics (WTO, 2010) released by World Trade Organization (WTO) : “In 2009, China overtook as the leader exporter of merchandise.”(p.5).(refer to figure 1). It means that today China is literally the factory of the world. Out of all the countries which have trade relation with China, the U.S is the largest importer. “21% of all Chinese produced goods are exported to the U.S.” (Banutu, 2007, para. 37). From this fact, we can find out that China is making a lot of money through the trade with the U.S. That is, the U.S is spending a lot of money. This, in turn, means that it is losing money. This can be supported by figure 2. Of course there might be other countries which are earning money through trade with the U.S, China being its largest trade partner(See figure 3), the U.S may feel that it has to reduce the deficit from its trade with China.
