Q2. (A) The FPAC 2

The Forestry Products Association of Canada (FPAC) is the voice of Canada’s wood, pulp,

and paper producers nationally and internationally in government, trade, and environmental affairs

(February 6, 2010). They represent the largest Canadian producers of the forestry goods and aim

to create competitiveness in the sector though the exceptional forest policy and practices.

There are major features of interest groups in the book that make differentiate from social

organizations: the voluntary membership, the multimember group, high dependency on the

active involvement of members and narrow focus of concern. (Moore & Stanbury, 227). The

FPAC is run by the 21 member firms that are committed to energy efficiency and environmental

preservation. They are required to third-party certification for the firms’ forest practices as a

condition of membership (February 6, 2010). Hence, FPAC is characterized to the multimember

institutional group which has restricted, stable, and voluntary membership system and has a narrow

focus of concern as to the forest goods. The FPAC also belongs to the corporate interest group that

represents the firms in the forest products sector. The group with common interests can be explained
