This article said to us that we have to find the solution for climate change; if not, we will also be threatened by the fatal effect of climate change just as polar bears are threatened by this change. Because the situation of polar bears is not simple, making the decision to announce polar bears as a threatened species for extinction has been postponed. The situation that has been threatening the polar bears’ existence can be summarized in two parts. The first situation is global warming. Since the temperature of the earth is getting higher, the amount of the Arctic ice necessary for polar bears to live has decreased. If we do not keep the ice from melting, the ice will disappear in the next few years. The second threatening situation is oil and gas projects in the Arctic region. There are two possibilities that can threaten the existence of polar bears because of oil drilling. One is the possibility of oil spills, and another is the damage of vibration. Although these two possibilities have serious potential impacts on polar bears, the Bush administration usually chooses the development of new oil fields rather than the conservation of the threatened species.
