ABSTRACT

Daegu’s local economy is dampened since the financial crisis with decline of textile industry. In order to boost the local economy, the municipality as well as the central government aims at improving the textile industry in Daegu by promoting the Milano Project in which infrastructure for the industry, development to highly value-added industry by consolidating the value chain, etc are possible. Current environment of Daegu for the textile industry has both advantages and disadvantages according to the diamond model, the analysis tool. With analyzing present status of industry, local government introduced some policies such as further improvements in infrastructure, brand creation and incentives for foreign investors however still other directions for producing more qualified customers, attracting qualified work force and creating high-class brands are needed with the help of the government.
