Several years ago, Korean government permitted selling of lottery called “Lotto” in Korea. As soon as lottery was distributed in the market, Lotto became enormous sensation among Koreans. Some of them became millionaires in just one day, and soon many people tended to chase the ‘Life Reversal’ with lottery. As a result, Lotto fever made thousands of people who do not work or giving efforts to upgrade their future but only circling lucky ‘six’ numbers. After reading the Waiting for Godot, Vladimir and Estragon reminded me the people who are only chasing the fantasies and waiting for impossible expectation of winning lottery. The two main characters are waiting for Godot every day, without knowing what time it is or where they are. All they do is waiting for Godot while exchanging needless conversations or performing extraordinary behaviors. The characters’ conversations and behavior conduct in the play Waiting for Godot, written by Samuel Beckett, shows how people live their life meaninglessly and waiting for invisible future without hopes, certainty, also criticizes the solitary characteristic of human being.
