하이퍼서사의 가능성과 국내 창작 사례 연구 (Methodology for Creating of Hypertext Narrative.)

초록

하이퍼서사는 다양한 서사적 잠재력과 가능성을 가진 디지털 시대의 주요한 서사 형식 중 하나이다. 하이퍼서사는 ‘링크를 통한 연결’을 중요한 작동원리로 한다는 점에서 주목해야 한다. ‘링크를 통한 연결’은 웹과 모바일을 막론하고 모든디지털 매체의 핵심적인 작동방식이며, 사람들의 사유 방식도 이를 닮아가고 있기때문이다. 본고에서는 최근 국내에서 만들어진 두 편의 ‘잘 구조화된’ 하이퍼서사<Fugue>와 <그 남자, 그 여자의 사정>을 대상으로 표상의 추출과 연결의 문제를설명한다. 이것은 각각 단위텍스트를 만들고, 링크를 설계하는 작업과 관련된다.
단위텍스트를 만드는 작업은 우선 창작자의 머릿속에 생겨난 어떤 주제나 사건에 대한 흐릿한 생각의 덩어리(최초 표상)를 지속적으로 해체하고 분해하는 재기술과정에서 시작한다. 재기술 과정을 거치고 나면 구체적인 형상과 분위기를 가진 여러 개의 구체 표상들이 만들어진다. 그리고 구체 표상들은 문자언어화 및 시각화, 청각화 작업을 통해 독립적이고 개별적인 단위텍스트들로 만들어지고 저장된다. 이때 창작자는 종합적, 통합적 사고가 아닌 개별적, 계열적 사고 패턴을 보인다. 논문에서는 2016년 작 <Fugue>의 단위텍스트가 만들어지는 창작 과정을 설명한다.
구체 표상으로부터 단위텍스트가 만들어지고 나면 창작은 다음 단계로 나아간다. 창작자는 단위텍스트 형태로 가시화된 구체 표상들을 상호 연결시키는 링크구조를 설계한다. 링크의 설계는 서사의 내용적 지속보다는 변화에 기초한 연관성을 중요하게 고려하는 가운데, 6가지 기본 링크 모형을 혼합 활용하는 방식으로이루진다. 하이퍼링크가 완성되면 비로소 하이퍼서사는 작동 가능한 상태가 된다.
그리고 독자의 선택과 호출에 따라 잠재된 것과 현재화된 단위텍스트들이 지속적으로 교체되면서 다양한 의미를 생성한다. 논문에서는 <Fugue>와 <그 남자, 그 여자의 사정>을 중심으로 링크의 설계 양상을 설명한다.

Jang Nowhyun. Methodology for Creating of Hypertext Narrative. 2017. Hypertext narrative is one of the major narrative forms of the digital age with various narrative potentials and possibilities. But in Korea, hypertext narrative creation has not been active yet. Related research has also been about introducing foreign theories and works. Fortunately, this situation has changed recently. Between 2015 and 2016, six hypertext narrative works were produced through the “Hyper-narrative creation project” conducted at Hannam University. This paper investigated the creative process of hypertext narrative based on the creative experience of the project.
Hypertext narrative is a narrative form consisting of a unit text and a hyperlink.
That is, several unit texts are linked through hyperlinks. Thus, the study of the method of creating a hyper-narrative becomes a problem of how to make unit text and how to connect it. In this paper, we divided it into two stages.Unit text is an important criterion in creating, as well as the acceptance of hyper-narrative. The process of creating a unitary text begins by consistently disassembling and decomposing a chunk of fuzzy ideas about a subject or event that occurs in the creator's mind. In this paper, it is called the process of representation extraction. After this process, concrete representations with specific shapes and moods are created. Concrete representations are described and stored in independent, individual unit texts through a real writing process. At this time, the creator shows individual and sequential thinking patterns rather than comprehensive and integrated thinking. In this paper, we describe the extraction of representations and the determination of unit texts, focusing on the process of creation of <Fugue> in 2016.
After the unit text is created through the extraction process of representation extraction , the creation proceeds to the next step. In the next step, the hypertext narrative creator prepares various types of hypothetical signs and hyperlinks them to interconnect the subdivided representations. At this time, the creator considers the relation based on the change rather than the continuation of the contents of the unit texts. Once the hyperlink is complete, the hypertext narrative becomes operational. And as the reader selects and calls, the potential and current unit texts are constantly replaced, creating a variety of meanings. In this thesis, we describe creative experience related to the design of links, focusing on <Fugue> and <the Situation of the Male and Female>.
