초록

굿 디자인 상품을 선정하는 디자인 어워드의 목적은 일반 소비자 및 생산⋅유통 관계자들의 디자인에대한 관심과 이해를 진작시킴과 동시에 우리나라 산업 디자인 개발의 촉진과 상품의 디자인 수준을 향상시키는 데에 그 목적이 있다.1) 굿 디자인 어워드는 심미성과 콘셉트 전달력을 중시하는 전문 디자인 공모전으로 평가받고 있지만, 실제 시장 경쟁력에 가장 중점을 두어 디자인을 평가한다. 제품화되기 위한 요소가 담긴 디자인이 이야말로디자인 경쟁력과 함께 실질적인 국가 경쟁력에 가치를 부여할 수 있기 때문이다. 국내 디자인 어워드는디자인 분야 비전을 제시함과 동시에 새로운 디자이너 발굴에 중점을 두고 있다. 지역 문화의 이해, 사회적 약자에 대한 해결방안 모색, 친환경 공간 조성 및인간 환경의 질적 향상에도 힘쓰고 있음을 알 수 있다. 하지만 이러한 어워드에 대한 부정적인 견해도 있다. 기업중심의 비즈니스적인요소를 강조하고 있음으로 인한 독창적인 개인과 중속업의 디자인에 대한 외면과 출품하기 어려운 디자인 산업구조 특성상 비밀유지를 해야 하는 새로운 가획디자인 상품들, 출품에대한 출품비, 심사비에 대한 부담감 등과 같은 이유로많은 디자인 제품들에 대한 평가를 받아보는 기회를얻지 못하고 있다. 이는 글로벌한 산업디자인의 저해요소가 될 수 있으며 수많은 디자이너들에 대한 상품의 가치판단 기준의 모호함으로 그들의 디자인 상품에 대한 전문적인 평가를 받지 못해 수정, 보완을 통한 굿 디자인개발에 대한 기회를 얻지 못한다.
이에 본 연구는 어워드에 참여하지 않아도 장소와시간에 구애받지 않는 글로벌 기준의 굿 디자인 평가요소로 선별해주는 ‘인공지능 기반의 굿 디자인 선별플랫폼’을 개발하여 대한미국 디자인 산업의 발전에도움 되고자 한다. 연구방법과 범위로는 산업통상부에서 제시한 디자인 분류를 중심으로 굿 디자인 5대 구성요소인 합목적성, 심미성, 독창성, 질서성, 경제성을기준하여 데이터 값을 구성하였다. 이에 덧붙여 국내외 유명 디자인 어워드의 평가지표들을 각각 분석하여 교차 값을 추출하여 인공지능 기반 플랫폼의 내비게이션을 구성하였다. 여기에 데이터 값으로 기존의굿 디자인 어워드의 심사결과로 선정된 디자인 상품들의 이미지 값을 주어 딥러닝 하여 위에 나열한 디자인 분류와 굿 디자인 평가요소를 중심으로 굿 디자인에 대한 선별 알고리즘을 구성하였다.
이러한 굿 디자인 선별 풀랫폼은 기존의 디자인 분류와 굿 디자인의 5대 구성요소를 평가지표로 선정한굿 디자인 어워드의 수상작들에 대한 이미지 값을 기준으로 인공지능이 새로운 디자인에 대한 평가 값을주어지게 된다. 이는 국내외 디자인 어워드의 평가지표를 기준으로 수상작들을 기준으로 하였기에 명확한결과값을 도출하기에는 무리가 따를 수 있으나 현재국내외 어워드의 평가기준에 합당한 디자인에 대한평가는 이루어질 수 있다. 그러나 디자인에 대한 정량적 평가자체가 개인과 국가, 시대와 역사, 문화와 사회적 관습과 트렌드에 따라 달라질 수 있는 것을 감안하여 데이터 값에 대한 지속적인 업그레이드와 빅데이터의 누적으러 인한 정확도의 변화가 있을 수 있다. 이에 따라 후속연구로서 사용자의 요구사항에 대한 세밀한 도출 값을 위해 분야와 요소들을 추출하여다분야의 이미지 설정값과 추가적인 평가지표에 대한보완이 필요함으로 여겨진다.

The purpose of the Design Awards is to promote interest and understanding of design by general consumers and production and distribution officials, while promoting industrial design development in Korea and improving the design level of products. https:// www.google.co.kr(2023.03.23.) The Good Design Award is evaluated as a professional design contest that values aesthetics and concept delivery, but it evaluates design with the most emphasis on actual market competitiveness. This is because design containing elements for commercialization can give value to actual national competitiveness along with design competitiveness. The domestic design awards focus on discovering new designers while presenting a vision for the field of design. It can be seen that it is also striving to understand local culture, find solutions to the socially disadvantaged, create an eco-friendly space, and improve the quality of the human environment. However, there are also negative views on these awards. Due to the emphasis on corporate-centered business elements, many design products are not evaluated due to the neglect of original individual and mid-speed design and the difficult design industry structure to submit. This can be an obstacle to global industrial design, and due to the ambiguity of the product’s value judgment criteria for numerous designers, they do not receive professional evaluation of their design products, so they do not get an opportunity to develop good designs through modification and supplementation.
Accordingly, this study aims to help the development of the Korean American design industry by developing an “artificial intelligence-based good design selection platform” that selects good design evaluation factors based on global standards regardless of place and time.
As for the research method and scope, data values were constructed based on the five major components of good design: purpose, aesthetics, originality, order, and economy, focusing on the design classification presented by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. In addition, the navigation of an artificial intelligence-based platform was constructed by analyzing evaluation indicators of famous domestic and foreign design awards, respectively, and extracting cross values. In addition, the selection algorithm for good design was constructed based on the design classification and good design evaluation elements listed above by giving the image value of the design products selected as the result of the review of the existing Good Design Awards.
This good design selection platform gives artificial intelligence an evaluation value for new designs based on the image values of the winning works of the Good Design Awards, which selected the five major components of the existing design classification and good design as evaluation indicators. This is based on the award-winning works based on the evaluation indicators of domestic and foreign design awards, so it may be difficult to derive clear results, but design that meets the evaluation standards of domestic and foreign awards can be evaluated. However, there may be continuous upgrades to data values and changes in accuracy due to accumulation of big data, given that quantitative evaluation of design itself may vary depending on individuals and countries, times and history, culture and social customs and trends.
Accordingly, as a follow-up study, it is considered necessary to extract fields and elements for detailed derivation values of users’ requirements to supplement image settings and additional evaluation indicators in multiple fields.
