3D 펜을 활용한 융합적 감성의 현대 의상디자인 연구 - 추사(秋史) 김정희(金正喜) 서체를 응용한 창작의상 작품 제작을 중심으로 (A Study on Contemporary Clothing Design Expressing Convergent Sensibility Using 3D Pen - Focused on the Development of Art Wear Applied with Chusa Kim Junghee’s Calligraphy)

초록

본 연구는 소형 최첨단 인쇄 도구인 3D 펜을 활용하여 테크놀로지와 인간의 손기술에 의한 수공예의 융합적감성의 표현 기법을 개발하고 한국 전통 이미지의 하나인 추사(秋史) 김정희(金正喜) 서체를 응용한 창작의상디자인을 개발하고자 하였다.
연구내용은 3D 펜 관련 문헌 자료와 전문 업체 웹사이트 조사 등을 통하여 3D 펜의 원리와 기능을 살펴보고3D 펜으로 표현되는 기본적인 조형요소의 특징을 파악하였다. 예술과 생활디자인 분야에서 활용된 사례를 찾아보고 3D 펜이 활용된 방법과 범위 등을 살펴보았으며 현대패션에서 3D 펜으로 만든 의상과 3D 펜과 패브릭소재를 결합하여 만든 의상으로 구분하여 특징과 표현방법 및 효과 등을 분석하였다. 작품 제작은 3D 펜에 관한 고찰과 사례 분석을 바탕으로 3D 펜의 특성을 활용하고자 손 작업의 특징이 두드러진 한국 전통 붓글씨를선택하였고, 추사(秋史) 김정희(金正喜)의 「천축고선생댁(儼然天竺古先生宅)」 탁본과 「동몽선습(童蒙先習)」 서체를 모티브로 채택하여 총 4점의 창작 의상을 제작하였다. 제작 아이템은 창의적 발상과 표현방법의 실험적 개발에 중점을 두고자 뷔스티에로 한정하였고, 저온용 3D 펜과 친환경 PCL 필라멘트를 사용하였다. 제작 방법은서체 사진을 복사한 종이 위에서 3D 펜으로 서체를 따라 그리면서 인쇄한 후 떼어내어 조합한 후 평면 혹은 입체적으로 서로 접착하거나 3D 펜으로 압출한 불규칙한 선들과 연결하는 방법으로 제작하였다.
본 연구를 통하여 3D 펜은 획일적인 인쇄가 아닌 새로운 감각의 수공예적인 3D 인쇄가 가능하므로 패션 디자인에 적용하여 테크놀로지와 수공예의 복합적 감성의 표현 방법과 창의적인 디자인을 개발 할 수 있고, 또 새롭고 실험적인 발상도 꾀할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 의의는 3D 펜과 손기술의 융합을 통하여 한국 전통 서체의 조형미를 새로운 감각으로 의상에 표현하고자 하였다는 점에서 찾을 수 있겠다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to develop a method of expressing convergent sensibility of technology and handicraft by using a 3D pen and also develop a creative clothing design applied with Chusa Kim Jung Hee’s calligraphy, which is one of the Korean traditional images. For this study, related literatures and websites specialized in the manufacturing of the 3D pen were researched to investigate the principles and functions of the pen and identify the features of the formal elements expressed with the pen. The methods and scope of the usage of the 3D pen were researched through case studies in the fields of art and design. Contemporary fashion was also analyzed and classified into clothing made solely by the 3D pen and clothing made by combining both the 3D pen and various fabrics. Their features, expressional methods and effects were studied. Based on the review of the 3D pen and case studies, Korean traditional calligraphy, which is characterized by its handcraft, was considered as a motif for the clothing design in order to fully use the characteristics of the 3D pen and so Chusa’s 「Chunchookosubsaengdeck」 and 「Dongmongsunseup」were finally selected. A total of four pieces of clothing were created.
The item was limited to bustier to focus on creative ideation and experimental development of expressional methods. Low-temperature 3D pen and eco-friendly PCL filaments were used in the process. As to the process of creation, Chusa’s calligraphy was 3D printed with the pen by drawing along on the top of its photocopy and then carefully peeling off the print outs from the photocopy. The pieces of 3D printed letters were then connected with irregular lines of filament released from the 3D pen. The clothing were completed by attaching the pieces of letters to each other in a planner or three-dimensional way. Through this research it was found that 3D pen is not just a uniform printing device, but capable of creating a new sense of handcrafted 3D printing so that it can be applied to fashion design and develop complex expressional methods of technology and handicraft. Therefore it can be useful for the development of innovative and experimental ideas and creative fashion design. The meaning of this study can be found in expressing the beauty of traditional Korean calligraphy onto fashion in a new aesthetic sense through the fusion of 3D pen technology and handicraft.
