해방기, ‘낭만'의 시적 지향― 동인지 <낭만파>를 중심으로 (The Poetic Orientations of Romanticism during the Post-Liberation Era— Focusing on the Literary Magazine Nangmanpa)

초록

이 연구는 해방 직후 발간된 지방 문학 동인지 <낭만파>를 구체적으로 분석하여 중앙문단 중심으로 함의되거나 순수/리얼로 구분되는 문학 담론을 지양하고자 하는 것이다.
‘낭만’은 새로운 시 형태를 추구할 때 소환된다. 1920년대 <백조>나 <폐허> 가 그랬고 1930년 등장한 <낭만>지와 임화의‘낭만’역시 그 예라고 할 수 있다.
1946년 태동한 <낭만파>도 현대 감각으로의 시를 추구하는 시기에‘낭만’을 거론했다는 점에서 유사하다. 그러나 이때의‘낭만’은 이전과는 다른 개념으로 정의된다.
먼저 이들은 퇴폐적, 폐쇄적인 낭만이 되지 않기 위해‘지성’을 발판으로 하여야 함을 강조하였다. 또한 문학이 정치나 경제에 예속되는 당시의 리얼리즘을비판하며 포에지를 지키면서도 인민이나 근로 대중을 포함하는 시를 꿈꿨다.
현대적인 감각을 위해서는 생활어를 사용한 산문화된 시의 가능성을 탐색하였다.
<낭만파>는 1집이 소실되었지만 이후 발견된 2집에서 그들이 추구하고자한 시 형태의 단초를 확인할 수 있었으며 4집에서는 어느 정도 시적 성취를 이루었다는 것이 확인된다. 하지만 3집부터 확대된 외연은 오히려 <낭만파>의특징을 모호하게 하였고 4집으로 종간되어 더 나아가지 못하였다.
그럼에도 이후 개별적인 활동을 이어갔던 조향이나 김춘수, 김수돈의 시 형태가 <낭만파>에서 시작되었다는 점에서 이들의 노력이 무효하지 않았음을보여준다. 또한 중앙문단의 이분법에서 벗어난 지방 문단에서 시작된 <낭만파> 의 시적 지향이 이후 하나의 갈래로 이어졌다는 점에서 이 연구의 의의를 찾을수 있다.

영어초록

This study aims to steer clear of those literary discourses whose implications concern the literary community in the nation’s center or that are categorized into belles-lettres or realistic literature by parsing Nangmanpa, a literary magazine published right after the national liberation of Korea.
Romanticism was summoned in pursuit of a new poetic form, as seen in Baekjo (“White Tide”) and Pyeheo (“Ruins”) in the 1920s and illustrated by the magazine Nangman (“Romanticism”) by Im Hwa that appeared in the 1930s. Nangmanpa (“Romantics”), which was created in 1946, was similar in that it broached Romanticism in an era that looked to poetry in a modern sense. However, Romanticism in those days was defined as a notion that set itself apart from earlier instances.
First, the magazine asserted that Romanticism should be based on intellect to avoid becoming decadent and exclusive.
Moreover, as it was critical of the contemporary realism that subjected literature to politics or economy, it sought poetry that included people or the working class all the while sticking to poesy. In pursuit of the modern sense, the magazine explored the possibilities of prosodic poetry that employed ordinary language.
Volume 1 of Nangmanpa was lost in a fire, but the second volume, which was discovered later, provided a clue to the poetic form sought by the literary circle. The larger extension that came with Volume 3 added to the ambiguous characterization of Nangmanpa, and the project halted when the publication was discontinued with Volume 4, which, to some extent, confirmed their poetic achievement.
Nevertheless, their efforts did not go unrewarded, as demonstrated by the fact that the poetic forms of Jo Hyang, Kim Chunsu, and Kim Su-don, who carried on with their individual literary pursuits, originated from Nangmanpa. This study is significant as it further sheds light on the fact that the poetic orientations of Nangmanpa, which arose in the local literary circle unveiling the dichotomy of the literary community in the nation’s center, went on to form a separate category.
