초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the group efficacy of pro women volleyball teams. Based on the research done by Lim(2009), 3 coaches and 9 women players were selected for an thorough interview. As a result of the interview, it was discovered that there are three categories of factors that cause the group efficacy of women volleyball teams. The three categories of factors are physical factors, psychological factors, and social factors. Physical factors include the preparation for a game day, being in shape, player’s individual ability and strength. Psychological factors include a motivation toward a goal a team is sharing, sacrifice for a team and will to win. Lastly, the social factors include mutual trust around the team, communication and cohesion of players, and coaching staffs. The efficacy of a team is built around tight bond and trust between each individual on a team, players and coaching staffs. In addition to the internal factors such as physical, psychological, and social factors, being women pro athletes shows other gender specific factor, which men athletes don’t have, to the group efficacy. For instance, women athletes can relieve their stress through getting their nails done or getting treatments for their skin. Also, it was discovered that having close relationship with foreign players is crucial to the group efficacy of a team unlike what was mentioned in Lim(2009) research.
