부르키나파소공화국 티에포족의 전통 노래에 나타난 신과의 소통·문화 정체성 고찰을 통한 선교 (Mission through the Consideration concerning Cultural Identity and Communication with Allah in Traditional Songs of the Tiéfo of Burkina Faso)

초록

서부아프리카의 부르키나파소공화국의 티에포족이 부르는 출산, 성인식, 결혼, 죽음, 그리고 농사와 관련된 전통적 노래들에는 그들의 공동체적 삶의 문화가 담겨있다. 그들의 전통적 노래들은 노소(老少) 간의 소통의 문화가 담겨있으며, 이를 지키기 위한 노력이 끊임없이 이어지고 있다. 그리하여 본 연구는 티에포족의 통과의례속의 전통음악에 나타난 신과의 소통 그리고 문화 변혁을 위한 선교의 방향을 모색하고자 한다.
티에포족의 전통 노래들은 단문으로 구성된 것으로서 선창자가 부른 후 공동체가 뒤따라 부르는 형식을 취하며, 하나의 곡을 여러 번 반복해서 부르는 것이 특징이다. 이 전통적 노래들은 신(알라)과의 소통을 전제로 하며, 자신들의 공동체적 삶과 연관되어 있다. 티에포족의 전통적 노래들은 출산, 성인식, 결혼, 죽음, 그리고 농사의 다섯 가지 종류로 나뉜다. 먼저 출산의 노래는 알라의 도움을 구함으로써 자신들이 신의 보호와 인도 아래 있게 되기를 기원하는 종교적 의미와 함께 아이와 산모를 축복하고자 하는 의미를 갖는다. 즉 자신들과 신과의 수직적 관계, 그리고 공동체 사회의 연결과 결합을 강조하려는 차원에서 출산의 노래를 부른다. 성인식의 노래는 티에포족에게 의무사항으로서 성인공동체의 일원이 되고, 사회적 활동에 참여할 수 있다는 자격을 부여받기 위해 시행하는 성인식에서 불려진다. 즉 이 노래는 알라의 축복을 통해 티에포족의 전사가 될 뿐 아니라 마을공동체 사회의 회원이 됨을 인증함으로써 공동체사회의 연대의식과 결합, 정체성을 강화시켜 줌과 동시에 티에포족 청년들의 행복과 건강, 안전을 기원하는 의미를 갖는다. 결혼의 노래는 공동체가 하나 될 것과 신이 주는 행복을 통해 부부에게 자녀와 재물이 허락되기를 바라는 간절함의 노래이다. 그리하여 본 노래는 집합정체성의 개념과 공동운명체라는 의식 하에 결혼생활도 사회적 현실과 연결되어 있음을 강조한다. 죽음의 노래는 인간의 죽음이 사회적 변동을 야기하고, 민속전통의 상실과 공동체 사회의 유대를 약화시키지만, 한편으로는 노래를 통해 종족사회의 정체성의 결합을 강화시킨다는 의미를 갖는다. 즉, 노래를 통해 티에포족은 신과의 소통이 가능하게 되고, 비록 죽음이 인간으로서의 절망감을 주지만, 성과 속의 의미를 모두 포함한 문화적 형태를 지닌 신앙의 표현으로서 죽음의 노래를 부른다. 끝으로 농사의 노래는 자연의 섭리를 인정하면서 타종족의 침략에 대한 두려움과 위기의 극복에 관한 내용을 담고 있다. 타에포족은 이 노래를 통해 종족의 생존을 위한 단합과 충성심을 강조하면서 종족의 통합과 통일성에 대한 강한 의지를 제시한다.
요약하면 티에포족의 전통적 노래는 신과 인간, 그리고 공동체 내의 질서의 신념체계를 갖고 있으며, 젊은 세대와 기성세대 간의 연결을 통해 종족의 연대성을 가능하게 만든다. 즉 티에포족의 노래는 자신들의 정체성의 핵심을 포함할 뿐 아니라 그 공동체를 결합시키는 기제이며, 자신들의 문화적 기질을 잘 드러내 준다. 그러므로 티에포족은 전통적 노래를 부름으로써 문화를 전승할 뿐 아니라 자신들의 삶과 경험들, 그리고 역사와 문화까지 계승하고 있다. 더 나아가서는 종교적 의식들을 행함으로써 신과의 소통을 강조한다.
티에포족의 복음화를 위해서 크게 다섯 가지의 선교 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 첫째, 선교사들은 티에포족의 전통적인 사고와 그들이 지닌 의문들에 관해 답을 제공해야 한다. 둘째, 선교사는 한 영혼에 대한 관심과 배려가 집중되는 현지인 집착 선교방식을 실천해야 한다. 셋째, 강력한 다와를 통한 무슬림의 공격과 뿌린 깊은 전통문화와의 치열한 종교적 생존경쟁에 대비하여 현지인과의 공존을 통한 다양한 연합전선을 갖추어야 한다. 넷째, 한 영혼이라도 구원하고자 하는 선교 지도를 구축해야 한다. 끝으로 선교사는 하나님의 관점을 가지고 사역의 성취감을 얻기 위해 끊임없이 도전해야 한다. 추가적으로 선교는 현장에 답이 있다는 사실을 명심해야 한다. 그러므로 각 지역의 현지 맞춤형 선교전략과 현지인들의 공감을 얻을 수 있는 전략도 실행해야 할 것이다. 물론 말씀과 기도를 통해 거룩한 자로서 삶의 복음전도를 실천하는 것이 가장 근본적인 선교 전략임을 잊지 말아야 할 것이다.

영어초록

Traditional songs related to birth, coming-of-age ceremony, marriage, death, and farming sung by the Tiéfo in Democratic Republic of Burkina Faso(Burkina Faso) in western Africa include the communal culture of their lives. Their traditional songs contain a culture of communication between the young and the old, and the Tiéfo is constantly trying to keep their culture. Therefore, this study seeks the direction of missional work for transformation of culture about traditional songs related to rite of passage of the Tiéfo.
The traditional songs of the Tiéfo are composed of a short sentence. After someone sings, the community sings along the song, and it repeats several times. These traditional songs are premised on the communication with Allah, and they are connected with their communal lives. The Tiéfo’s traditional songs are divided into five categories: birth, coming-of-age ceremony, marriage, death, and farming. First of all, the song of birth has the meaning to pray for protection and guidance of Allah, and to bless children and mothers by saving the help of Allah. That is, this song is intended to emphasize the vertical relationship between themselves and Allah as well as the union of the community. Next, the song of the coming-of-age ceremony, a duty of the Tiéfo, is sung to become a member of the adult community and to qualify for participation in social activities, namely the song gives certification of a warrior the Tiéfo and a member of the community in blessings of Allah. Thus, the song means pray for happiness, health and safety of the Tiéfo’s youths not only but also the solidarity of the community and the strengthening of identity. Next, the song of marriage is the earnest song for union of the Tiéfo’s community, and for children and wealth to be allowed by the couple in happiness given by Allah. Therefore, this song emphasizes that married life is linked to social reality under the concept of collective identity and community bound together by a common destiny. On the other hand, the song of the death means that the death of a human causes social changes, the loss of folk traditions, and weakening of the bond between community, however the song of death reinforces the union of identity in the ethnic society. In other words, Tiéfos are able to communicate with Allah in spite of despair by the death, and their song becomes the expression of faith including a cultural form of sanctity and secularity. Finally, the song of farming is about fear of invasion of other tribes and overcoming a crisis by recognizing provision of nature. Through this song, Tiéfos emphasize unity and loyalty for their survival, and show their strong will for combination and unity.
· In sum, the traditional songs of the Tiéfo not only involves the point of their identity, but also combines the community by revealing their cultural characteristics. After all, Tiéfos transmit traditional culture as well as inherit their lives, experience, and history by singing traditional songs. Furthermore, they emphasize communication with Allah by practicing religious rites.
This paper presents five ways of missionary work for the evangelization of the Tiéfo. First, missionaries must answer the Tiéfo’s traditional though and their questions. Second, missionaries must practice a missional way of obsession for local people through regard for and care about a soul. Third, missionaries must be equipped with diverse alliances through coexistence with local people by preparing for a struggle for existence in Muslim’s attack with powerful dawah policies. Fourth, missionaries must construct a missional map to save even a soul. Finally, missionaries must constantly challenge themselves to achieve a sense of accomplishment of the missionary work with the view of God. Additionally, missionaries have to remember that the answer of mission is in the mission field. Therefore, mission asks for missional strategies for each mission field and to gain sympathy from local people. Of course, missionaries have to remember that to evangelize as holy people with the Word and pray is the most fundamental missionary strategy.
