제품디자인 콘셉트 기반의 생성형 AI 프롬프트 활용 연구 : 미드저니를 활용한 가정용 전자동 에스프레소 머신 이미지 생성을 중심으로 (A Study on the Use of Generative AI Prompts Based on the Product Design Concept : Focusing on Generated an Image of a Home Superautomatic Espresso Machine at Using Midjourney)

초록

인공지능의 등장은 디자인 프로세스의 혁신을 가져와 제한된 창의성에 의존하던 기존 방식을 변화시키고 있다. 특히 생성 형 AI는 디자인 작업의 속도와 다양성을 증진시키며, 새로운 창작 패러다임으로의 변화와 경쟁력을 제공하게 되었다. 본 연구는 가정용 전자동 에스프레소 머신을 테마로 디자인 콘셉트를 정하고, 분위기, 조형, 디테일의 단계별로 구분한 프롬프 트 구성을 통해 이미지를 생성하였으며, 생성된 이미지는 전문가 평가를 통해 콘셉트 기반 AI 프롬프트의 효과와 한계를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 분위기에서는 키워드에 부합하는 심플하고 미니멀한 이미지가 생성되었으나 전문적인 디자 인과 UX/UI 표현을 위해서는 추가 작업이 필요하다고 평가하였다. 둘째, 조형 키워드를 통해 새로운 폼 팩터(Form Factor) 생성과 조형 가능성을 확인했으나 일부 불명확한 조형이 한계로 지적되었다. 마지막으로 디테일 단계에서는 이미 지의 구체성과 세부 아이디어 발굴에는 긍정적이었으나 복잡한 프롬프트 구성이 콘셉트와 창의성을 저해할 수 있다는 우려 가 제기되었다. 연구를 통해 아이디어 확장 여부에 따라 프롬프트의 범위가 구성되어야 하며 결과물의 선정과 활용은 디자 이너의 판단과 개인의 감성 요소가 결합 될 때 효율적으로 활용될 수 있을 것임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 생성형 AI 를 제품디자인 과정에서 콘셉트 기반의 창의적 아이디어를 발산하는 방법과 한계를 알아보고 디자인 콘셉트 시각화 및 실 제 적용에서 생성형 AI의 가능성과 한계점에 대해 논의하였다. 이를 통해 생성형 AI의 효율적이고 실제적인 제품디자인 프 로세스의 활용과 후속 연구에 초석이 되기를 기대하는 바이다.

영어초록

The advent of artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the design process, changing the existing method of relying on limited creativity. In particular, generative AI improves the speed and diversity of design work, providing change and competitiveness toward a new creative paradigm. In this study, the design concept was set under the theme of a super automatic espresso machine for home use, and the image was created through the composition of prompts divided by stages of atmosphere, formatting, and detail. and The generated image analyzed the effects and limitations of concept-based AI prompts through expert evaluation. As a result of the study, first, in terms of atmosphere, a simple and minimal image matching the keyword was created, but additional work was evaluated to be necessary for professional design and UX/UI expression. Second, the possibility of creating new form factors and shaping was confirmed through formative keywords, but some unclear formative features were pointed out as limitations. Lastly, in the detail stage, the concreteness of the image and the discovery of detailed ideas were positive, but concerns were raised that complex prompt composition could hinder concept and creativity. Through the study, it was found that the scope of the prompt should be structured according to whether or not the idea is expanded, and that the selection and use of the results can be used efficiently when the designer's judgment and personal emotional elements are combined. This study investigated the methods and limitations of generative AI in generating concept-based creative ideas in the product design process and discussed the possibilities and limitations of generative AI in design concept visualization and practical application. Through this, it is hoped that it will serve as a cornerstone for the efficient and practical use of product design processes in Generative AI and subsequent research.
