초록

최근 이루어진 우리나라 체육단체의 통합은 기존 독립적으로 운영되어오던 엘리트스포츠 ･생활체육 기관의 통합운영을 통해 “스포츠 강국”에서 “스포츠 선진국”으로 발돋움하고자 하는 국가적 노력이다. 이러한 스포츠 패러다임의변화에 발맞추어 본 논문은 대한체육회 내에서 엘리트스포츠의 지속적인 성공을 꾀하기 위해 Developmental Model of Sport Participation(DMSP)프레임워크의 엘리트운동선수 발달과정을 고찰하고, 우리나라 엘리트선수 발달과정을위한 기반구축방안을 제시 해 보고자 하였다. DMSP모델은 최근 체육단체의 통합으로 이루어진 우리나라의 새로운“스포츠 선진국” 패러다임과 맞물려 엘리트선수 발굴과 육성, 공부하는 운동선수 만들기, 더 나아가 엘리트스포츠 ･ 학교체육 ･생활체육의 연계를 통해 엘리트스포츠의 선수저변확대 및 활성화를 꾀할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

영어초록

Recent integration of South Korea’s sport organizations aims to enhance health and welfare among all people on the basis of the concept, Sport for All. Nonetheless, elite athlete development remains as a high priority area in the county and the focus on elite athlete development should not be reduced due to the introduction of Sport for All. This paper sought to discuss the theoretical background and concept of the Development Model of Sport Participation (DMSP), discuss the applicability of the DMSP framework to the newly integrated sport system, and provide pragmatic strategies for elite athlete development in South Korea. The DMSP, first introduced by Jean Côté and his colleagues (2007), is a model of athlete development throughout childhood and adolescence based on theoretical and empirical scientific evidence which describes the processes, pathways, and outcomes in relations to high performance athlete development. The DMSP model provides appropriate training methods by proportionally planning deliberate play and deliberate practice according to ages and stages, and provides alternative ways, other than traditional early specialization, to become elite athletes or life-long recreational sport participants. The DMSP model is expected to play vital roles in improving discovery and fosterage of young elite athletes, and setting student athletes up for success in or out of their sport. Adopting the DMSP model may also lead to mass participation in sports which will contribute to having large sample for elite athlete development.
