소년원 재원 청소년 치유 강좌에 대한 목회신학적 탐구: 복합 트라우마를 중심으로 (A Pastoral Theoretical Exploration of Healing Courses for Juvenile Offenders in Detention Centers: Focusing on Complex Trauma)

초록

이 연구는 복합 트라우마를 중심으로 소년원 재원 청소년들을 위한 치유 강좌를 목회신학적으로 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 우선 이 연구는 연구자의 살천, 곧 소년원에서의 트라우마 집중강좌를 소개하고, 그 내용과 효과를 논의한다. 트라우마 집중강좌는 매우 효과적이었는데, 그 이유는 이 강좌가 원생들의 고통스러운 경험을 이론을 통해 언어화하고 이에 대처하는 방법을 청소년들의 눈높이에 맞춰 소통할 수 있었기 때문이다. 이어서 이 연구는 연구자의 실천에 대한 이론적이고 신학적인 성찰로 나아간다. 연구자는 소년원 재원 청소년들을 복합 트라우마의 희생자/ 생존자로 이해할 것을 제안하고, 『국제질병분류 제11판』에 기초하여 ‘복합 외상후스트레스 장애’의 증상과 특징을 정리한다. 또한 이 연구는 아우구스티누스의 하나님의 모상 이론을 기초로 복합 트라우마의 신학적 의미를 규명한다. 아우구스티누스는 기억과 이해와 사랑을 영혼의 삼위일체적 기능으로 제시했다. 여기서는 아우구스티누스의 이론을 기초로 복합 트라우마의 증상을 기억과 이해와 사랑의 차원에서 분석한다. 또한 아우구스티누스는 하나님의 은혜를 통해 죄로 일그러진 하나님의 모상이 갱신되고 재형성된다는 관점에서 회복과 구원을 다루었다. 복합 트라우마의 치유는 하나님의 모상의 갱신과 재형성과 직접적으로 연결되지는 않는다고 볼 수 있다. 하지만 복합 트라우마의 치유와 회복은 주의 길을 예비하는 세례자 요한의 사역과 유비할 수 있다, 또한 아우구스티누스은 하나님의 모상론에서 하나님이 언제나 어디서나 특히 지성 안에 현존한다는 것을 강조하는데, 이러한 하나님의 현존은 구원의 가능성을 전제하며, 복합 트라우마의 희생자/ 생존자를 돕는 이들에게 위로와 힘을 제공한다. 또한 ‘릴레이셔널 홈’은 성령을 통해 매개되는 하나님의 사랑을 인격적으로 전달하는 통로로 이해될 수 있다. 마지막으로 이 연구는 다시 실천으로 돌아가, 트라우마 체계 치료 접근에 기초하여 소년원 원생의 복합 트라우마 치유와 회복을 위한 실제적인 방안을 제시한다. 여기서는 소년원 재원 청소년들의 복합 트라우마 경험에 대한 총체적 파악, 트라우마 집중강좌의 제도화, 복합 트라우마 시각에서 개인적이고 집단적인 심리치료 시행, 복합 트라우마 희생자/생존자를 위한 효과적인 돌봄 체계로 소년원 체제 정비, 퇴소 후 가족과 학교와 지역사회를 포괄하는 트라우마 체계 치료 확립 등 다섯 가지 주제를 제시한다. 이 연구는 복합 트라우마를 목회신학 분야에 소개하고 그 신학적 의미를 규명했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영어초록

This research delves into a pastoral theological exploration of healing courses designed for juvenile offenders in detention centers, focusing on complex trauma. This study commences with the researcher’s experience with trauma-intensive courses at juvenile detention centers, discussing their content and efficacy. The trauma-intensive courses proved to be very effective, and their effectiveness consists in verbalizing and addressing the traumatic experiences of juvenile delinquents grounded in theoretical concepts as well as in communicating coping mechanisms tailored to the youth’s level. Next, this investigation enters into theoretical and theological reflections, It proposes to understand juvenile delinquents as victims/survivors of multiple traumas, detailing the symptoms and characteristics of “Complex Post-trauma Disorder” according to the International Classification of Diseases, 11th edition. Subsequently, drawing on Augustine’s theological framework of the image of God, this study explores the theological implications of complex trauma. Augustine presents memory, knowledge, and love as the trinitarian faculties of mind. This serves to analyze the symptoms of complex trauma in terms of memory, knowledge, and love. Augustine also deals with recovery and salvation from the perspective of renewal and reformulation of the image of God, distorted by sin, through God’s grace. The healing of complex trauma is not directly linked to the renewal and reformulation of the image of God. Healing and restoration of complex trauma, however, can be understood as analogous to John the Baptist’s ministry of preparing the way of the Lord. Augustine also argues in his doctrine of the image of God that God is always and everywhere present, especially in the intellect, and this divine presence can provide the ever-present possibility of salvation, furnishing comfort and strength to those who provide assistance and caring of victims/survivors of complex trauma. Moreover, the relational home serves as conduits for the personal communication of divine love closely related to the work of the Holy Spirit in Augustine’s mind. The study concludes with pragmatic recommendations for the healing and recovery of young offenders within the confines of detention centers based on the trauma systems therapy approach. It presents five themes: holistically understanding the complex trauma experiences of youth in juvenile detention, institutionalizing trauma intensive courses, systemically implementing individual and group psychotherapy from a complex trauma perspective, transforming the juvenile detention center into effective systems of caring victims/survivors of complex trauma, and establishing trauma systems therapy including families, schools, and communities after release. The significance of this research lies in its introduction of the concept of complex trauma to the domain of pastoral theology, delving into its theological meanings.
