색채학적 관점에서 KS A 0011의 톤 분류 체계에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Tone Classification System of KS A 0011 in the Perspective of Chromatics)

초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the concept of basic color names proposed by Korean Industrial Standard KS A 0011(Names of non-luminous object colours) from chromatics point of view, and to visually search the uniformity of the basic color names and tone classification system on a three attributes of color basis to analyze its system and effectiveness as information of color standard. This is because color standard refers to the systematic classification and symbolization of colors for common and repeated use, and it should be utilized effectively as interchangeable color chart in color industry markets.
First research method is exploring and comparing psychological and chromatical approaches to the concept of basic color names. Second is analyzing the perceptual uniformity of the basic color name of chromatic colors by using the color chart of 「Korean standard color names」 developed by KS A 0011 standards. Third method is visually analyzing the basic color names with a color chart sorted by tone and visually analyzing them again with a tone chart sorted by color. Research has shown that a difference in views between the two approaches was recognized from the concept formulation of basic color names, and therefore, insufficient aspects were discovered as conditions for standardization of colors, such as uneven arrangements of color exchange, irregular arrangements of the tone, and irregular movement of lightness and saturation from tone to tone.
This is analyzed as an inevitable consequence caused from conflicting dual structure between the functions of the basic color name as a means of verbal expression and as a means of color standardization. Therefore, I expect to improve the systematic color standard of KS A 0011 by supplementing this basic study and to be used as a good way of communicating colors in everyday life.
