하회탈의 예술적 조형성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Artistic Formativeness of Hahoetal)

초록

본 연구는 하회탈의 예술적 조형성을 조명하기 위하여 선행연구에 근거하여 하회탈의 역사와 유래, 하회탈의 종류와 특성, 역할 등을 고찰하고 이를 통해하회탈의 조형성과 예술성을 연구하고자 하는 것을목적으로 한다.
하회탈과 하회탈춤은 우리나라에서 가장 오래된 것으로서, 고려시대 탈의 모습을 고스란히 간직하고 있으며 우리 민속예술과 민족문화의 상징처럼 인식되고있는 대표적인 탈이며 탈춤이다. 하회탈은 국보 121호로 지정되었고, 하회별신굿탈놀이는 1980년 국가지정중요무형문화재 제 69호로 지정되어 전승되고 있다.
하회별신굿탈놀이는 한국의 전통적인 민속극을 대표하는 상징성을 지니기 때문에 탈춤 자체의 연극성, 탈놀이에 대한 연구도 중요하지만, 조각 예술작품으로서의 하회탈 그 자체에 대한 고찰도 매우 중요하다고할 수 있다.
연구의 방법으로는 그간의 많은 주요 선행연구를중심으로 문헌연구로 진행하였다. 주요 연구내용으로는 Ⅱ장에서 선행연구들을 참고하여 각 탈의 종류와역할을 분석, 요약하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 Ⅱ장에서 살펴본 분석, 요약된 내용을 바탕으로 하회탈의 조형미와특성을 분석하였다.
분석결과에 따라 결론적으로 하회탈의 예술적 조형성으로 도출한 내용은, 화회탈의 종류와 특성에 따라비례의 조형미, 색채를 통한 조형미, 강조를 통한 과장의 조형미, 조화와 부조화의 조형미 등이다.
주지하다시피, 하회탈의 예술적 조형성은 하회별신굿탈놀이의 사회적 의미와 상징성 그리고 문화유산으로서의 중요성과 불가분의 관계를 가진다. 따라서 이논문의 결론에서는 선행연구를 바탕으로 하회탈의 형태와 특징, 조형성과 미적가치 그리고 하회탈 속에 나타난 시사성과 사회적 의미를 살펴보고자 한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to the artistic formativeness and artistic values of Hahoetal masks.
For this purpose, the researcher conducted a literature review on the history, origin, types, characteristics, and roles of Hahoetal masks.
Hahoetal masks and Hahoetal mask dances(Hahoe Byeolshin Mast Dance) are one of the oldest cultural heritage of Korea. The Hahoetal masks still preserve their forms originating from the Goryeo era and are regarded as one of the most representative types of masks and mask daces, as a symbol of the art and culture of Korean people. Hahoetal masks are designated as National Treasure No.12. In contrast, Hahoe Byeolshin Mask Dance has been designated as intangible cultural heritage(No.69) since 1980 for its preservation.
The said mask dance ritual is also of a symbolic value representing the cultural heritage and tradition of Korea.
Therefore, while it is essential to study the value of the dance ritual as a play and the performance in masks, it is also essential to examine the Hahoetal masks themselves as a piece of sculpture works of art.
As a method of research, literature research was conducted, focusing on many major prior studies. As for the main research content, the types and roles of each mask were analyzed and summarized by referring to previous studies in Chapter II. In Chapter Ⅲ, the formative beauty and characteristics of Hahoetal were analyzed based on the analysis and summary contents reviewed in Chapter Ⅱ.
In conclusion, according to the analysis results, the contents derived from the artistic formativeness of Hahoetal are the formative beauty of proportion, the formative beauty through color, the formative beauty of exaggeration through emphasis, and the formative beauty of harmony and disharmony according to the type and characteristics of the painting.
As is well known, the artistic formativeness of Hahoetal has an inseparable relationship with the social meaning and symbolism of Hahoe Byeolshin Mask Dance, and the importance as a cultural heritage.
Therefore, in the conclusion of this thesis, based on previous studies, I would like to examine the form and characteristics of Hahoetal, formativeness and aesthetic value, and the significance and social significance of Hahoetal.
