초록

This study is based on the problems which local people and society ought to
solve realistically. Such a problem was excluded within the centralized thought of a
nation-state and also marginally dealt with. Its purpose is to newly interpret the
discourses of postmodern and globalization through a local perspective and then to
suggest a new position of local or locality.
Based on the problem-consciousness above, the followings are logically described
and proved in this study. Firstly, the meaning of postmodern is defined as a
reflection of the institutionalized processes of modernity. Secondly, the meaning of
globalization is understood in terms of a unit of space. Given modernity was
institutionalized by a unit of a nation-state, globalization is understood as a typical
phenomena of post-modernity because it causes the transformation of a nation-state.
Thirdly, the aspects and meaning of reterritorization of postmodern space are
interpreted from a local perspective. Fourthly, the local or locality as a new unit of
space is prospected.
