초록

이제 우리는 뮤지엄의 양적 성장이 아닌 질적 성장에 대해 논의할 시기다. 이를 위해 뮤지엄 디자인도 그 대상의 하나로 역할과 범위가 확장 될 필요가 있다. 이렇듯 개발과 발전의 필요성을 내재한 디자인 중 특히 전시공간 구축에서의 디자인 방법론은 지속적인 연구의 필요성을 가진다. 전시에서 디자인은 메시지를 발신하는 커뮤니케이션 체계로 기획의 부수적 작업이 아닌 기획을 완성시키고 관람 경험을 완성시키는 역할을 하기 때문이다. 본 연구는 이러한 전시공간구성 방법론의 하나로 플롯개념을 적용한 국립민속박물관 특별전 ‘끈질긴 삶과 신명, 경상남도’전 사례를 고찰하였다. 연구의 진행은 대상 전시의 주요 콘텐츠와 전시시나리오를 살펴보고, 그것이 어떻게 공간화 되었는지를 고찰하였다. 다음으로 구조적 측면(‘장소의 재현과 해석’, ‘동선과 시퀀스’)과 구성적 측면(‘상징적 서사구조’, ‘은유적 연출’, ‘예측된 관람행동 적용’) 두 관점에서 대상 특별전의 플롯을 분석하였다. 연구대상 전시는 자연문화, 물질문화, 정신문화 세 카테고리로 존을 구성하고 각각 낙동강변, 시장(장터), 오광대 놀이마당 이라는 구체적인 장소를 모티브로 관람객의 예측되는 행태를 가미한 공간이 구성되었다. ‘장소의 재현과 해석’, ‘동선과 시퀀스’, ‘상징적 서사구조’라는 플롯 개념을 적용, 전시에서 의도한 네러티브가 공간화 되었음을 확인 할 수 있었다.

영어초록

Now is the time for us to discuss qualitative growth, not quantitative growth of the museum. To this end, museum design also needs to expand its role and scope as one of its targets. Among the designs that embodied the need for development, the design methodology, especially in the construction of exhibition space, has the need for continuous research. In the exhibition, design is a communication system that sends messages, which serves to complete the planning and complete the viewing experience, not the incidental work of the planning. This study was intended to examine the examples of exhibitions applying the concept of plots, and was conducted on the National Folk Museum of Korea's special exhibition 'Persevering Life and Exhilaration, Gyeongsangnamdo'. The progress of the study looked at the composition of the exhibition scenario of the target exhibition and how it was applied to the exhibition space, and the layout, movement lines, and structural metaphors were examined as plots that were spatialized through the exhibition results. Next, the plots of the grand prize special exhibition were analyzed from two perspectives: the structural aspects ("reproduction and interpretation of the location", the "direction and sequence") and the compositional aspects ("symbolic narrative structure", the " metaphorical production" and the "application of predicted viewing behavior"). The exhibition under research consisted of three categories: natural culture, material culture, and spiritual culture, and each space was constructed based on the specific place called Nakdonggang River, market (marketplace), and Ogwangdae Playground, which was based on the predicted behavior of visitors. By applying the plot concepts of "reproduction and interpretation of the place," "movement and sequence," and "symbolic narrative structure," it was possible to confirm that the narrative intended for the exhibition was spatialized.
