공유와 고유감각의 확장에 대한 큐레이팅 고찰 - 58회 베니스 비엔날레의 리투아니아관과 프랑스관 - (Curating Contemplation of Sharing and Unique Sensory Expansion - Lithuanian and French Pavilions at the 58th Venice Biennale -)

초록

지난 이 십여 년간은 전시기획자 및 이론가인 니꼴라 부리요(Nicolas Bourriaud)의 관계미학 개념과 사회학자 피에르 부르디외(Pierre Bourdieu)의 장이론에 영향을 받은 예술의 사회적 수용과 공공의 커뮤니케이션에 중점을 둔 큐레이팅이었다. 이번 연구는 2019년 베니스 비엔날레에서 예술가와 예술 사이의 의미에서 시작을 찾는 부분이 더 강조가 되며 작가와 큐레이터의 협력이 함께 시너지를 내는 큐레이팅의 예술의 확장성에 관한 것이다. 2019년 황금사자상 수상의 리투아니아관과 참여국인 프랑스관의 전시는 우리를 둘러싸고 있는 환경 안에서 예술의 감각을 어떻게 다루어야 하는 현 예술의 주제를 학제, 다 장르, 여러 가지 시공간으로 녹여낸 큐레이팅이다. 리투아니아관은 기후와 환경에 관한 무거운 주제를 오페라, 퍼포먼스, 미장센의 종합적 표현 안에서 가벼우면서 유머러스하고 평범한 일상으로 담아내어 매우 시적이고 감각적인 울림을 준다. 프랑스관 역시 시공간의 공유와 고유가 함께 용해하며 존재하는 다양한 방식을 감성적이고 시적으로 풀어내고 있다. 라투아니아 관의 가짜는 실제의 재현 안에서 더욱 실감나고 예술은 실재가 되어 삶에 들어온다. 우리가 만난 해변은 유토피아이면서 동시에 틈이다. 그러나 틈에서 발생되는 소리, 움직임, 냄새, 관람객들의 감상하는 태도, 핸드폰의 촬영 등 공유와 고유의 감각은 확장되어 또 하나의 경이로운 일상이 된다. 자르디니에 있는 프랑스관은 프랑스와 영국을 연결하는 해저터널을 연상시키는 지하의 어두운 방을 통과해 이층으로 가는 구조를 ‘문어의 머리’로 의도한다. 신경계로부터 뻗어 나온 촉수의 감각들을 음향, 춤, 공연, 유리조각, 조명 작품으로 연결해 표현하였다. 프랑스 본토의 중심적 사고에서 약간 비켜난 작가와 큐레이터는 언어의 기표와 기의에 예민한 불어단어를 비틀고 변형시켜 유머러스한 문체로 바꿔 놓는다. 상상력과 변혁의 힘을 가진 예술가와 조직적이며 논리적 사회화의 힘을 가진 큐레이터의 섬세한 공존 방식의 큐레이팅은 관객에게도 예술본질의 공유와 고유의 감각을 확장시킨다. 2019년 베니스 비엔날레의 두 관은 인류의 유산 안에서 발견된 새로운 장소와 함께 나날이 발전하는 다양한 매체와 장르를 즉시로 혹은 과정으로 수용하는 연체동물같은 전시로 시대적 큐레이팅임을 규정한다.

영어초록

For the past two decades, curating has been focused on social acceptance of art and public communication influenced by the Relational aesthetics of curator and theorist Nicolas Bourriaud and the Field theory of sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. This study is more about the expandability of the art in the curating, which creates synergistic effect with the collaboration between the artist and the curator, and emphasizes on finding the beginning in the sense of artist and art at the 2019 Venice Biennale. The Lithuanian Pavilion which won the 2019 Golden Lion Award and the French Pavilion show the curating which embraced the current art theme, how to deal with the sense of art in the environment that surrounds us, with interdisciplinary, multi-genre, and time-space. The Lithuanian Pavilion captures heavy themes such as climate and the environment, it gives a very poetic and sensual resonance in opera, performance, and mise en scène's comprehensive expressions in a light, humorous and mundane routine. The French Pavilion also expresses emotionally and poetically the various ways in which space-time sharing and uniqueness exist together. The fake becomes more realistic in the representation of the reality, and art becomes real and comes into life. The beaches we see are utopian and at the same time the gap. However, through the sound, movement, smell coming from the gap, the audience's sentimentality, and the shooting with the cell phone, etc., sharing and unique senses are expanded, making it another marvelous daily life. The French Pavilion in Jardini intends to be the 'head of the octopus' structure, which passes through a dark underground room reminiscent of an undersea tunnel connecting France and England. It expresse the sense of tentacles, extending from the nervous system, by connecting to sound, dance, performances, glass sculptures, and lighting works. Artists and curators, who are a little out of the way of central thinking in mainland France, twist and transform French words sensitive to signifier and signified into humorous style. The coexistence of artists with the power of imagination and transformation and curators with the power of organized and logical socialization makes the curating which extends the sharing of the essence of art and the unique sense of the essence to the audience. I would conclude that the two pavilions of the 2019 Venice Biennale is the curating in the eras such as a mollusc-like exhibition that accepts a variety of growing media and genres, instantly or as a process, along with new places found within human heritage.
