초록

This paper is to define Yi, Injik's effect on the New Theatre, The Unsegye through studying his work in Miyako Shinmoon.
Yi, Injik worked as the honorary reporter in Miyako Shinmoon from the November of 1901 to the May of 1903. Yi, Injik who had gone to study in Tokyo Politics School and was much interested in the business of newspapers and the people who were involved in Tokyo Politics School and had the intention to make him a journalist favored in Japan had the same views in his working in Miyako Shinmoon. Working in Miyako Shinmoon, he came to accept Japanese politic discourse completely, so he came to have the standpoint that Korea is a barbarous country in contrast to civilized Japan. He also came to insist that Korea be civilized modeling after Japan. He made the good use of the novels and plays to introduce effectively his theory that Korea be civilized modeling after Japan, According to his experience in Miyako Shinmoon, he wrote the series of novels in the newspapers and devised the way to perform them as plays.
He called these kinds of novel and play as Shin Novel and Shin Theatre and tried to define that they are different from the previous novels and plays. It was the New Theatre, The Unsegye performed on the November of 1908 that his intention obtained a good result for the first time.
