음악과 인문학 코티칭(Co-teaching) 융합 수업 방안 모색 (Exploring Teaching Methods for Co-Teaching a Fusion Education of Music and Humanities)

초록

최근 경쟁력과 전문성을 높이기 위한 전공 교육을 강화하는 추세에 자기주도적 인 역량을 배양시켜주는 인문, 사회, 자연 및 예술의 자유학예(Liberal Arts) 교육의 보완을 통해 실무와 인성을 겸비한 인재를 양성할 수 있도록 양질의 교양교육 교과와 효과적인 교과운영의 개발이 절실하다. 또한 오늘날 급변하는 시대적 요구에 유연하게 대처할 수 있는 종합적, 창의적 문제해결능력을 학생들에게 길러주기 위해 융, 복합 교육 개발이 절실해지고 있으며, 융, 복합 교육의 기초가 되는 교양교육에서의 융, 복합 교과 개발이 중요하게 여겨지고 있다.
본 연구에서는 대학 교양교육의 질적 향상과 급변하는 시대적 요구에 유연하게 대처하고자 창의력, 사고력, 판단력, 자기 주도적 학습의 효과를 높여줄 수 있는 융합 교양 교육을 소개하고 강의 운영 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 코티칭(Co-teaching) 강의 운영 방식을 소개하고 본 연구자들이 소속된 대학에서 2017학년도 2학기에 처음으로 시행한 융합 교양 교과목인 <음악과 인문학> 강의를 살펴보고자 한다. 본 강의는 인문학 전공자와 음악교육 전공자가 함께 수업을 개발하고 설계하여 하나의 콘텐츠로 융합하는 과정을 거쳐 동시에 수업을 진행하는 코티칭 강의 방식으로 운영하였다. 이에 학생들은 기존 한 교수자의 한 영역 중심의 교양강좌에서 벗어나 음악과 인문학 두 영역을 균형 잡힌 융합적 콘텐츠로 새롭게 접근시킬 수 있었으며, 두 교수자의 연구 관점도 다른 학문 영역에 대한 이해의 폭이 넓어지고 더불어 자신의 연구 영역에 다른 전공 영역을 도입해 학문적 지경을 확장시킬 수 있었다. 이번 연구를 통해 대학 교양교과목이 창의성 인재양성을 위한 기틀을 마련하고 더 나아가 융합교양교육 개발을 위한 출발점이 되길 기대해 본다.

영어초록

With the recent trend of reinforcing and emphasizing major education to enhance competitiveness and professionalism, there is an urgent need to develop a quality liberal arts curriculum and effective methods of operation for the curriculum. This must be done in order to nurture human resources with sound personalities and strong competencies for fieldwork by making up for the shortcomings of liberal arts education programs, such as humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and art. Moreover, to equip students with the ability to solve problems in a comprehensive and creative manner and to enable them to flexibly respond to the demands of the times in today’s rapidly changing society, the development of fusion education is desperately needed. Therefore, it is also important to develop a fusion curriculum for liberal arts education, which can be the foundation for fusion education.
In order to flexibly respond to the rapidly changing demands of the times and to improve the quality of the liberal arts education at universities, this study intends to introduce a fusion liberal arts education that can enhance students’ creativeness and their ability to think and make judgments. It also intends to examine the effect of self-directed learning and aims to explore operational methods for fusion classes. To this end, this study aims to introduce how co- teaching classes are operated by studying a course titled <Music and Humanities>, a fusion liberal arts class, which was first started in 2017, in the second semester, at the university where the researchers of the present study work. The class was operated by adopting the method of co-teaching lecturing, where two lecturers, one majoring in humanities and the other majoring in musical education, jointly developed and designed the course curriculum and led the class by converging and integrating the lesson contents into one lesson. As a result, students could approach the two fields of music and humanities through balanced fusion lesson contents. This was a departure from the traditional teaching method for liberal arts classes, where one lecturer focuses on one field of study, and, consequently, the two lecturers could broaden their understanding of other academic areas and widen the scope of their research viewpoints. In addition, they were able to pioneer a new method for academic research by introducing other fields or majors into their own research area. Consequently, this study is expected to lay the foundation upon which liberal arts courses at universities can contribute toward cultivating creative talents in the future and aims to serve as a starting point for the development of fusion liberal arts education.
