한국 전통문화요소 기와를 활용한 컬포츠 교육 방안 연구 (An archaeological study on the roof tile by the use of culports)

초록

2017년 교육과정은 놀이 중심의 체험을 통한 아이들의 자율성과 공동체 역량을 키우는데 목표를 두고 있으며 방과후 활동, 체험활동 등이 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 컬포츠(culports)는 culture와 sports의 합성어로 고고학적인 물질문화자원을 기반으로한 교육적인 효과와 여러 스포츠적 요소를 융합하여 자유롭고 자발적인 체험활동을 통해 자신의 경험과 생각을 다양하게 표현할 수 있는 효과를 기대 할 수 있을 것으로 생각한다. 기와는 목조 건물의 지붕에 이어져 눈과 빗물의 누수를 차단하고 지붕과 결구하고있는 목재의 부식을 방지할 뿐만 아니라 건물의 경관을 돋보이기 위하여 삼국시대부터본격적으로 제작되어 사용되어 오고 있으며 그 사용처와 형태에 따라 분류된다. 기와가얹어지는 지붕은 건물의 성격이나 용도 등에 따라 지붕의 형태가 결정되며, 지붕의 구조가 시대에 따라 변화한다. 이러한 구조의 변화를 살펴보기 위해 기와지붕을 컬포츠 아이템으로 선정하게 되었다. 기와지붕만들기를 통해 우리나라 고대로부터 현대에 이르는지붕구조와 변화에 대한 교육적 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것이라 생각한다.
기와지붕만들기를 활용한 컬포츠 프로그램은 총 3단계로 나누어 프로그램을 구성하였다. 유아·초등학교 저학년의 경우 맞배지붕만들기로 하부 건축구조는 조립된 양상으로 제공되며, 초등학교 고학년의 경우 우진각지붕만들기로 하부 건축구조는 20판 이내로 제공된 블록을 조립하여 기본적인 건축구조를 이해하게 된다. 중·고등학생의 경우 팔작지붕만들기로 구성되며, 100판 이상의 블록을 조립하여 하부 건축 구조에 대한전문적이고 구체적인 방법으로 접근하게 된다. 즉 전통구조물의 특성과 문화적 가치를학습하기 위해 기와를 매개체로 단계별로 사용된 기와의 종류와 난이도를 점차 높여가는 수준별 프로그램으로 구성된다. 컬포츠를 활용한 기와지붕만들기는 교과수업으로 미흡한 문화교육을 자유롭고 자발적인 활동으로 이끌어 낼 수 있는 교육적 효과를 창출할 것으로 기대된다.

영어초록

Since the purpose of the 2017 curriculum for the secondary education is to support students’ self-directed and community-based learning, it emphasizes the important role played by after school activities and experienced learning. In this respect, culports(combination of words culture and sports), incorporating sports elements into areological and cultural resources, is expected to help students experience educational effects that cannot be obtained from the traditional classrooms.
Making a roof tile can be considered as one of the good examples illustrating the culports approach From an archeological and cultural perspective, a traditional roof shares priceless value in that since the period of the three states it has long been developed to prevent wood’s corrosion, to repair water leak in the roof, and to draw attention to the landscape of the tile-roofed house. The structure and form of the roof tile have been evolved in various ways according to its uses and functions. In an attempt to taking a look at such a change in architectural technology, this study develops the roof tile projects based on the culports approach, thus expecting educational effects embedded in the history from ancient to modern times.
This study proposes the culports-based roof tile program that consists of the three stages targeted at students in preschools and elementary students in lower grades, at elementary school in higher grades, and those in middle and high schools. For students in preschools and elementary students in lower grades, the program deals with the basic works of roof tiles, such as Flat Giwa and Counter-lifting Giwa, assembling these with a set building structure. With regard to the second level grogram, students engage in making a Hipped Roof using the construction structure consisting of 20 blocks. On the other hand, students in middle and high schools are supposed to work for the traditional Hipped-and-Gable Roof with a complicated construction structure requiring more than 100 wood blocks. As illustrated, the culports-based roofing projects are programed to provide an opportunity for students to gradually learn cultural value embedded in the features of the traditional constructions. The present study strongly argues that the works of making the roof tiles using culports lead students voluntarily to the reservoir of cultural education that they cannot experience under tradition classrooms.
