클래식 음악분야의 융합인재 양성을 위한 캡스톤 디자인 교육프로그램 적용과 실제: 성결대학교 사례를 중심으로 (Application and Practice of Capstone Design Education Program for Fostering Convergence Talents in the Classical Music Field)

초록

캡스톤 디자인 수업은 졸업 후 산업 현장에서 부딪힐 문제들을 학생들 스스로 문제 정의, 해결, 평가하는 과정을 실습하는 교과목으로 4차 산업혁명시대의 창의융합인재를 양성하기 위해 주목받고 있는 교수 방법 중의 하나이다. 그러나 주로 공과계열 중심의 산학 연계형 프로그램으로 활용되면서 예술 분야, 특히 기능위주의 교육과정에치우쳐 있는 클래식 음악분야에서는 그 필요성에도 불구하고 아직까지 캡스톤 디자인 교과목의 운영, 성과 사례가많지 않은 상황이다. 이에 본 연구는 예술융합인재 개발을 위해 개설된 성결대학교 음악학부의 ‘캡스톤 디자인’ 교과목의 사례를 통하여 예술대학의 캡스톤 디자인 프로그램의 적용가능성을 탐색하고자 한다. 본 연구자가 교수자로 참여한 2020년 8월~2021년 2월까지의 캡스톤 디자인 수업의 기획과정과 본 수업, 학생과 교수자의 사후 인터뷰를 통해 음악학부에서의 캡스톤 디자인의 긍정적 측면과 한계, 개선점을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 음악적재능을 가진 학생들이 공연 기획이라는 분야와 융합하면서 현실적으로 활용가치가 높은 교과목이었다. 둘째, 졸업연주회와 맞물리면서 협업하는 시간의 부족과 일정의 혼선이 있었지만 사전에 실습의 기회를 늘릴 수 있었고 무대에 대한 이해를 얻을 수 있었다. 셋째, 자기홍보전략, 자기 브랜드화 전략, 인터뷰 기술 등 개인의 가능성을 새롭게 발견하고 졸업 후 대처할 수 있는 보다 현실적인 교육이었다. 그러나 문제해결학습(PBL)을 위한 자발적 학습에대한 학생들의 이해와 경험이 부족하여 수업을 내실 있게 운영하는데 시간이 많이 소요되었고, 학생들에게 다른분야에 대한 문헌적 이해, 경험적 이해가 절대적으로 부족하였다. 따라서 음악학부 교육과정 내에서 공학, 인문학수업의 연계 뿐 아니라 문화예술 공연의 트렌드와 같은 다양한 수업의 개설이 병행되어야 한다. 또한, 교수자들은학생들이 지원할 수 있는 분야를 잘 안내하거나 조성하여 수업 결과 발표가 끝난 후에도 지속적으로 학생들이 연구하고 관심을 가질 수 있도록 연계하는 방안이 고려되어야 한다. 앞으로 음악학부를 비롯한 예술학부 학생들의창의적인 아이디어가 실제 문제에 적용되어 구현될 수 있도록 하고 적절한 환경 개선과 함께 캡스톤 디자인이 활성화 된다면 예술대학의 교육과 취업의 연계성을 강화시키는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

The capstone design class is a course in which students practice the process of defining, solving, and evaluating problems that they will encounter in the industrial field after graduation.
It is one of the teaching methods attracting attention to nurture creative convergence talents in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. However, since the capstone design class has been mainly used as an industrial-educational-cooperation program centered on engineering majors, in the field of art, especially in the field of classical music, which focuses on function-oriented curriculum, there are still few cases of operation and performance of the capstone design course despite its necessity.
Thus, this study seeks to explore the applicability of the capstone design program of the College of Arts through the case of the Capstone Design Course of the Department of Music at Sungkyul University, which was established to foster art convergence talent. I analyzed the positive aspects, limitations, and improvements of Capstone design by participating in the program as a professor, which is through the planning process, main classes, and post-interviews of students and professors of Capstone Design from August 2020 to February 2021. The analysis results are as follows. First, Capstone Design was a highly practical course in that students with musical talents could merge with the field of performance planning. Second, students could have the opportunity for practice and gain the understanding of the stage beforehand even though there was a lack of time and confusion in schedule because the schedule overlapped with the graduation concert. Third, it was a more practical education to discover the potential of students such as self-promotion and self-branding strategies, and interview skills, which would help them cope with situations well after graduation.
However, the lack of students’ understanding and experience of voluntary learning for problemsolving learning (PBL) led to time-consuming and exhaustive operations, and students also lacked theoretical and empirical understanding of other fields. Therefore, not only engineering and humanities classes but also various classes such as the trend of cultural and artistic performances should be introduced within the music department curriculum. In addition, professors should consider ways to guide or create areas where students can apply what they learn so that they can continue to study and be interested after the presentation of class results. In the future, creative ideas of the students both in the College of Music and the College of Arts should be applied to real problems and implemented, and if Capstone Design is more activated along with proper environmental improvement, it will contribute to strengthen the link between education and employment at the College of Arts.
