초록

현재 세계는 인구 고령화라는 도전에 직면해 있으며, 노인 인구의 증가는 사회 전반에 새로운 요구를 제기하고 있다. 그러나 노인 인구를 지원할 수 있는 자원은 계속해서 줄어들고 있으며, 이에 따라 노인들의 생활 환경도 저하되고 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 노인들에게 적합한 생활 환경을 어떻게 제공할 것인가는 시급한 사회적 문제로 떠오르고 있다. 본 연구는 ‘실버타운 내 힐링가든’이라는 개념에 주목하여 자연과 상호작용하는 공간을 디자인함으로써 노인의 신체적, 정신적 건강을 향상시키는데 도움이 되고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 한국, 중국, 일본의 실버타운 힐링가든의 공간 특성을 정리하고 타겟 디자인 전략을 제시함으로써 실버타운 및 기타 노인 요양 시설의 힐링가든 디자인에 과학적인 근거와 참고자료를 제공하는데 있다. 연구 방법은 기존 문헌과 선행 연구를 바탕으로 노인의 특성, 실버타운과 힐링가든의 이론적 근거를 분석하고, 힐링가든의 공간 요소를 정리하여 치유 효과를 평가하는 지표로 삼고, 각 항목에 해당하는 세부 사항을 통해 사례를 분석하였다. 연구 범위는 2000년 이후 설립된 한국, 중국, 일본의 인기 있고 규모가 유사한 9개의 대표 사례이다. 환경 디자인학과 교수와 디자이너를 대상으로 전문가 설문 조사와 인터뷰를 실시하여 현재 힐링가든 디자인의 장단점을 분석하였다. 그 결과 한국, 중국, 일본의 실버타운 힐링가든은 공간 디자인에서 뚜렷한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이론 연구와 사례 분석을 통해 실제로 활용 가능한 실버타운 힐링가든의 공간 디자인 방향을 탐구하였다. 이는 노인의 삶의 질을 향상시키고 신체적, 정신적 회복을 촉진할 것이다.

영어초록

Currently, the world is facing the challenge of an ageing population, and the growth of the elderly population is placing new demands on all aspects of society. However, the resources to support the elderly population are decreasing, and the quality of the environment in which the elderly live is also declining. Against this background, how to provide the elderly with a suitable living environment has become an urgent social issue that needs to be addressed. This study focuses on the concept of ‘Healing Garden in Silver Town’, which aims to help the elderly improve their physical and mental health through the design of spaces that interact with nature. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to summarise the spatial characteristics of the Healing Gardens in Silver Towns in South Korea, China and Japan, and propose targeted design strategies, in order to provide a scientific basis and reference for the design of Healing Gardens in Silver Towns and other elderly care facilities. The research method is to analyse the characteristics of the elderly, the theoretical basis of Silver Town and Healing Gardens, and summarise the spatial elements of Healing Gardens as evaluation indicators of the healing effect of Healing Gardens, based on existing literature and previous research. The scope of the study is to analyse nine representative cases established after 2000 in South Korea, China and Japan that are popular and similar in scale. Expert questionnaires and interviews were conducted with professors and designers in the environmental design field to analyse the current design strengths and weaknesses of Healing Gardens. The results show that there are significant differences in the spatial design of the Healing Gardens in the Silver Towns of South Korea, China and Japan. Through theoretical research and case analysis, the direction of space design for the Healing Gardens in Silver Towns that can be practically used is explored. This will promote a rich life and physical and mental rehabilitation for the elderly.
