초록

The purposes of this study were to suggestion the activating plans of beauty contest as a regional festival by analyzing the Daegu International Body-painting Festival and World Body-painting Festival’s situation, events, regulation and distinctive element. An objects of case study was selected by interview of beauty experts, and analyzed, organized and summarized through study of domestic and international literature, research, articles, and internet resources. This study shows that Daegu International Body-painting Festival was began 2008 under the name of ‘World Body-painting Festival’. And the body-painting, fantasy makeup, photogenic model was category of the festival, and it evaluated under the criteria of assorting all varieties of color fete suitable for Daegu’s ‘colorful city image’ World Body-painting Festival started 1998 at the Seeboden city of Austrian, and it grew as contest of the international body-painting artists.
Contest category was body-painting, special effects, UV effects and amateur, and the screening took the quality of work, technique skills and creativity very seriously. The function of these festivals was as follow: the sublimation beauty-contest in Art & Culture, the representation of regional image, the entertainment as a festival, the role of tourist attraction, and the enhancing community harmony and spirit. In addition, the beauty expert and tourist as well as regional residents enjoyed contest and festival, and it was contributed to the activation of regional economy and the development of industry-related fields. These contest as the region festival could be the developing model of beauty fields. Therefore, the beauty contest needs to activate the participatory program and image as the local festival.
