총련계 재일동포 소설의 주제적 특성 (The Theme of Korean Novel’s of Korean Residents in Japan)

초록

이 논문은 총련계 재일동포 소설 가운데 리은직의 『임무』, 소영호의 『고향손님』, 김민의 『이른 새벽』, 박종상의 『원앙유정』, 박관범의 『꽃피는 길』, 박순영의 『동포동네』 등의 개인 단편집을 연구대상으로 삼아 그것의 주제적 성격을 규명하였다.
총련계 재일동포 소설은 ‘재일동포 이야기’와 ‘남한 이야기’로 대별된다. 전자는 ‘재일’의 문제를 둘러싼 정체성 탐색의 서사이며, 후자는 남한의 정치현실을 비판하는 고발의 서사이다. 전자는 민족을 후자는 통일을 궁극적 지향점으로 삼고 있다.
재일동포 정체성과 관련하여 총련계 재일동포 소설은 ‘공화국(북한) 해외 공민’이란 확고한 정체성 모델을 적용하고 있다. 그러므로 민단인, 귀화인을 모두 부정적으로 묘사한다. 민단에 속하거나 귀화인이 될 경우 우리말과 우리역사를 배울 수 없게 되고 궁극에는 민족적 자긍심을 잃게 된다는 것이다. ‘공화국 해외 공민’으로 실존하기 위해서는 두 가지 길을 걸어야 한다. 그 하나가 민족교육이고 또 다른 하나가 총련 조직 활동이다. 학교와 조직은 총련계 재일동포 소설에서 가장 비중이 높은 소재가 된다. 때문에 이 둘을 연결짓는 주체인 교사의 이야기가 가장 빈번하게 등장하며, 작가 대부분이 ‘교원’인 것도 이와 무관하지 않다.
남한의 정치현실을 비판하는 서사는 남한의 반정부운동이나 민중운동을 소재로 하는데, 남한의 정치적 경제적 모순을 극대화하고, 직접화법으로 북한과 수령을 찬양함으로써 남한을 부정하고 북한을 긍정하는 정서를 조작해낸다. 총련계 재일동포 소설에서 남한 현실에 대한 묘사에 버금가는 북한 현실에 대한 천착이 이루어지지 않았다는 점은 매우 문제적이라고 지적해야 할 것이다. 이러한 사실은 ‘통일’을 지향하는 총련계 재일동포 소설의 모순으로서 재일동포 한국어 문학을 ‘친북문학’ 심지어는 ‘북한문학 아류’로 해석하려는 의혹을 떨칠 수 없게 하기 때문이다.

영어초록

There are two categories in literature of Korean residents in Japan: one is the novel written in Korean, the other is the novel written in Japanese. Of these categories, Korean Novels written by the residents in Japanese is divided into two categories: The stories of the residents in Japan and the stories about South Korea. The one is the stories through which they search their identity as Korean residents in Japan. The others is the stories through which they criticize political landscape of South Korea. That is, the former ultimately aimed for a Korean people and the latter unification.
First, regarding the identity of Korean residents in Japan, the firm identity model of ‘overseas North Korean’ has application to Korean novels written by Korean residents in Japan. Therefore these novels describe negatively the Korean residents union in Japan, naturalized Koreans in Japan. Because they think if they are naturalized they will not learn the Korean language and the history of Korea, and then they will finally be lost their self-esteem as Korean. There are two ways to exist as ‘overseas North Korean’. One is patriotic education and the other is to be act for the organization as the member of the pro, North Korean residents’ league in Japan. Thus school and Organization are main materials in Korean novels written by Korean residents in Japan. As a result there are a lot of stories whose character was teachers who could connect with these two materials, and that is also relevant to the fact that most writers are teachers.
Lastly, the stories through which they criticize political landscape of South Korea has materials which are antigovernment or popular movements. They maximize the contradiction which South Korea have, and manipulate the emotions that they make others deny South Korea and affirm North Korea praising North Korea and their leader with direct narration.
In Koran novels written by Korean residents in Japan, the description about circumstances of North Korea was not as much as that about circumstances of South Korea. In other words, it means there is little search about the circumstances of North Korea among its writers and it can be said that there are problems in Korean novels written by Korean residents in Japan. These problems are the contradiction which their novels have aiming for unification. For this reason, their novels cannot be free from suspicion that their novels are the literature of pro-North Korea, even the epigone of North literature.
