생명의 진리와 생명학지구 생명시대의 생명문화 공동체 (Truth of Life and Life Studies: Life Culture Community Required in the Era of Life on a Global Level)

초록

First of all, it is temporarily assumed that the concept of “life studies” is defined broadly as an “area of learning studying the truth of life”. In order to identify the truth of life, we ask the question: “What is life?” What should we do first to answer this question? We can approach to the life through living creatures, which are concrete phenomenological manifestations of life. This means that living creatures are not life itself. Life is not living creature. Let’s call this “difference in terms of life studies.”
Life studies focus on such life truths, concrete truth of life of nat-saengmyeong (individual life) and jong-saengmyeong (species), including human species, and the truth of universal on-saengmyeong (whole life) formed by all living creatures intermingled with one another. Life studies attempt to explore the truth of life that is revealed in life phenomena in concrete historical time and space. Models in this life studies are living creatures. The truth of life is revealed in the truth of living, which is unfolded in different dimensions. The bodies of living creatures, which are alive and moving, contain information on the truth of life on diverse levels.
In order to judiciously resolve life issues on a global level, we should strive to identify what we need today by studying all of mankind’s cultural assets related to life. In order contribute to addressing this, in the following discourse I intend to examine what precedes an understanding of life, what led the lives of the Korean people, and how such precedent understanding is adjusted to the contemporary era and in what truth of life it gets interpreted and explained and how such truth of life and truth of living should be transformed into action in the reality of our everyday lives. Next, I will shift attention to a global dimension and review solutions suggested by the world’s leading scholars in the West to address problems with the ecosystem faced by humankind in this era of the global village from the perspe ctive of life studies.
