초록

It has been reported that Korean Christian Church In Japan (KCCJ), basically, consists of Korean resident believers in Japan (old-comers), mostly. And yet, recently, the old-comers have not necessarily been the center of the KCCJ, there are churches to settle themselves as an open community of faith through communications with Korean new-comers and further, local Japanese residents, breaking from the character of a diaspora community of faith. To understand today’s KCCJ accurately, both of the two aspects should be considered. Thus, the author made an effort to understand the KCCJ, looking into churches that would maintain their character as a diaspora community of faith and those that were responding to various changes actively beyond that together. For this purpose, a comparative analysis of these churches was conducted based on the results of a survey with eight churches of the KCCJ. In the result of the comparison, it was found that in the KCCJ, churches that would maintain their belonging to the existing closed diaspora community of faith and those that would be born again as an open community of faith coexisted. In particular, the appearance of the KCCJ active in communications with the local Japanese society sufficiently suggests a possibility for them to become an open community of faith, and through which, it is expected that they will be reborn in more diversified looks.
